我曾用智慧专心寻求查究天下所发生的一切事；原来神给予世人的，是劳苦的担子，叫他们为此烦恼。

我专心用智慧寻求、查究天下所做的一切事，乃知神叫世人所经练的是极重的劳苦。

I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind!

I decided to study things carefully. I used my wisdom to check everything out. I looked into everything that is done on earth. What a heavy load God has put on human beings!

And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.

I devoted myself to search for understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done under heaven. I soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race.

I applied my mind to examine and explore through wisdom all that is done under heaven. God has given people this miserable task to keep them occupied.

And I set my mind to seek and explore by wisdom about everything that has been done under heaven. It is a sorry task with which God has given the sons of mankind to be troubled.

我又专心究察智慧和知识，狂妄和愚昧，才知道这也是捕风。

我专心认识智慧，察看世上的劳碌─有人昼夜不眠─于是我看见了神的一切作为，知道在日光之下所发生的事，人不能查明；尽管人劳碌寻查，总是查不出来；即使智慧人以为知道了，还是查不出来。

我转念，一心去了解、考察并寻觅智慧和事理，又要知道愚蒙是邪恶的，狂妄是愚昧的。

我看见各样的劳碌和各样精巧的工作，都是出于人与人彼此的竞争。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

留心听智慧，致力求聪明；如果你为求哲理而呼喊，为求聪明而扬声；如果你寻找它如同寻找银子，搜寻它好像搜寻宝藏；

神把智慧、知识和喜乐赐给他所喜悦的人，却使罪人作收集和积聚的差事，把所得的归给神所喜悦的人。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

聪明人的心获得知识；智慧人的耳朵寻求知识。

耶和华的作为伟大，喜爱他作为的人都努力查究。

我儿，把你的心给我；你的眼目要关注我的道路。

其实终其一生，他的担子既痛苦又烦恼，在夜间也不能安心。这也是虚空。

智慧的开端（“智慧的开端”或译：“智慧是首要的”）是求取智慧，要用你所得的一切换取哲理。

我看见了这一切，又专心查究在日光之下所发生的一切事。有这样的一个时候：有人管辖别人，叫他受害。

这些事你要认真实行，专心去作，使众人看出你的长进来。

我儿，还有，你当受劝勉：著书多，没有穷尽；读书多，身体疲倦。

离群独处的，只顾自己的心愿；他抗拒一切大智慧。
