Understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

“你当知道，耶和华你神将这美地赐你为业，并不是因你的义；你本是硬着颈项的百姓。

“你当知道，耶和华—你的上帝将这美地赐你为业，并不是因你的义；你本是硬着颈项的百姓。

你们要知道，耶和华赐给你们那佳美之地不是因为你们有好品德。其实你们是顽固不化的人。

你要知道，耶和华你的神把这美地赐给你作产业，并不是因着你的义；你本来是顽固的民族。

「你當知道，耶和華－你神將這美地賜你為業，並不是因你的義；你本是硬着頸項的百姓。

你要知道，耶和華你的神把這美地賜給你作產業，並不是因著你的義；你本來是頑固的民族。

『故此你要知道永恆主你的上帝將這美好之地賜給你去取得它，並不是因你的美德；你本是脖子硬的人民。

當知爾上帝耶和華非為爾義、錫爾沃壤為業、爾乃強項之民、

然爾實強項不馴、爾當知爾上帝耶和華、非為爾義、錫爾腴壤、使爾據之、

爾當知主爾之天主非為爾善、以此美地賜爾為業、爾實為強項之民、

Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

The Lord your God is giving you this good land to take as your own. But you must understand that it isn’t because you are a godly nation. In fact, you are stubborn.

“ Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stubborn people.

You must recognize that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land because you are good, for you are not— you are a stubborn people.

“ Know, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stubborn people.

Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

Know therefore, that Jehovah thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

Understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou[ art] a stiffnecked people.

Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn people!

Know therefore that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess for your righteousness, for you are a stiff- necked people.

For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you are rebelling against the LORD now, while I am still alive, how much more will you rebel after I am dead!

Therefore, circumcise your hearts and don’t be stiff-necked any longer.

The LORD also said to me,‘ I have seen this people, and indeed, they are a stiff-necked people.

“ You stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit. As your ancestors did, you do also.

The LORD also said to Moses,“ I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked people.

I declared the past events long ago; they came out of my mouth; I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they occurred.Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze,

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go up with you because you are a stiff-necked people; otherwise, I might destroy you on the way.”

But understand that today the LORD your God will cross over ahead of you as a consuming fire; he will devastate and subdue them before you. You will drive them out and destroy them swiftly, as the LORD has told you.When the LORD your God drives them out before you, do not say to yourself,‘ The LORD brought me in to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.’ Instead, the LORD will drive out these nations before you because of their wickedness.

Then he said,“ My Lord, if I have indeed found favor with you, my Lord, please go with us( even though this is a stiff-necked people), forgive our iniquity and our sin, and accept us as your own possession.”

Then they would not be like their ancestors, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not loyal and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

The descendants are obstinate and hardhearted. I am sending you to them, and you must say to them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says.’

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear allegiance by God. He became obstinate and hardened his heart against returning to the LORD, the God of Israel.

But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder; they closed their ears so they could not hear.They made their hearts like a rock so as not to obey the law or the words that the LORD of Armies had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore intense anger came from the LORD of Armies.

Don’t become obstinate now like your ancestors did. Give your allegiance to the LORD, and come to his sanctuary that he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God so that he may turn his burning anger away from you,

You will know that I am the LORD, house of Israel, when I have dealt with you for the sake of my name rather than according to your evil ways and corrupt acts. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’”

The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even moreso that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
