于是我转身，从山上下来，山上有火烧着；我手中拿着两块约版。

So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.

So I turned and went down the mountain. It was blazing with fire. I was carrying the two tablets of the covenant law.

So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.

“ So while the mountain was blazing with fire I turned and came down, holding in my hands the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant.

“ So I went back down the mountain, while it was blazing with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.

“ So I turned and came down from the mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.

“ So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.

西奈全山冒烟，因为耶和华在火中降临到山上；山的烟向上升，好像火窑的烟一样。全山猛烈震动。

那时山上被火烧着，你们听见有声音从黑暗中发出来的时候，你们各支派的首领和你们的长老，都走到我这里来，

那时，你们走前来，站在山下；山上有火烧着，火焰冲天，又有黑暗、密云和幽暗。

你们不是来到那座摸得着的山。那里有烈火、密云、幽暗、暴风、

摩西把手杖向天一伸，耶和华就打雷（“打雷”原文作“神的声音”）下雹，有火落在地上；耶和华使冰雹降在埃及地上。

于是，耶和华改变初衷，不把他所说的祸降在他的人民身上。摩西转身，从山上下来，手里拿着两块法版；法版是两面写的，这面和那面都写着字。法版是神的工作，字是神写的，刻在法版上。约书亚听见人民呼喊的声音的时候，就对摩西说：“营里有战争的声音。”摩西回答：“这不是战胜的呼声，也不是战败的呼声；我听见的是歌唱的声音。”摩西走近营前的时候，看见了那牛犊，又看见了有人唱歌跳舞，他就发烈怒，把两块法版从他的手中摔掉，在山下把它们摔碎了。又把他们所做的那牛犊拿过来，用火焚烧，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，让以色列人喝。摩西对亚伦说：“这人民向你作了什么，你竟使他们陷在大罪里呢？”亚伦回答：“求我主不要发烈怒，你知道这人民倾向罪恶。他们对我说：‘给我们做神像，可以在我们前面引路，因为那摩西，就是把我们从埃及地领出来的那个人，我们不知道他遭遇了什么事。’我对他们说：‘凡是有金子的，都可以摘下来’，他们就给了我；我把它丢在火里，这牛犊就出来了。”摩西看见人民放肆原来是亚伦纵容他们，使他们成为那些起来与他们为敌的人的笑柄，就站在营门中，说：“凡是属耶和华的，都可以到我这里来。”于是，所有利未的子孙都到他那里聚集。摩西对他们说：“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘你们各人要把自己的剑佩在大腿上，在营中往来行走，从这门到那门；你们各人要杀自己的兄弟、邻舍和亲人。’”利未的子孙照着摩西的话作了；那一天，人民中被杀的约有三千人。摩西说：“今天你们要奉献自己归耶和华为圣，因为各人牺牲了自己的儿子和兄弟，好使耶和华今天赐福给你们。”第二天，摩西对人民说：“你们犯了大罪，现在我要上耶和华那里去，或者我可以为你们赎罪。”于是，摩西回到耶和华那里，说：“唉，这人民犯了大罪，为自己做了金神像。现在，如果你肯赦免他们的罪，那就好了；如果不肯，求你从你所写的册上把我涂抹吧。”耶和华对摩西说：“谁得罪了我，我就要从我的册上把谁涂抹。现在你去吧，领这人民到我吩咐你的地方去。看哪，我的使者必在你前面引路；只是在我追讨的日子，我必追讨他们的罪。”耶和华击杀人民是因为他们敬拜亚伦做的牛犊。
