现在，你且由得我，让我向他们发烈怒，把他们消灭；我要使你成为大国。”摩西就恳求耶和华他的神施恩，说：“耶和华啊，你为什么向你的人民发烈怒呢？这人民是你用大能和全能的手从埃及地领出来的。为什么让埃及人议论，说：‘把他们领出来是出于恶意的，要在山上杀死他们，在地上消灭他们’呢？求你回心转意，不发烈怒；求你改变初衷，不降祸给你的人民。求你记念你的仆人亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各；你曾经指着自己向他们起誓，说：‘我必使你的后裔增多，好像天上的星一样；我必把我应许的这全地赐给你的后裔，他们必永远承受这地作产业。’”

愿他的后人被除灭，愿他们的名字在下一代被涂抹。

义人的名必蒙称赞，恶人的名字却必腐朽。

耶和华对我说：“即使摩西和撒母耳站在我面前代求，我的心也不会转向这人民。你把他们从我面前赶走，叫他们出去！

而他却在里面回答：‘不要麻烦我，门已经关好了，孩子也跟我在床上了，我不能起来拿给你。’我告诉你们，即使不因为他是朋友而起来给他，也会因为他厚颜地直求，而起来照他所需要的给他。我又告诉你们，你们祈求，就给你们；寻找，就寻见；叩门，就给你们开门。因为所有祈求的就得着，寻找的就寻见，叩门的就给他开门。

得胜的，也必这样身穿白衣，我决不从生命册上涂抹他的名，我还要在我父和他的众天使面前，承认他的名。

“你们颈项刚硬、心和耳都未受割礼的人哪！你们时常抗拒圣灵，你们的祖先怎样，你们也怎样。

现在，如果你肯赦免他们的罪，那就好了；如果不肯，求你从你所写的册上把我涂抹吧。”耶和华对摩西说：“谁得罪了我，我就要从我的册上把谁涂抹。

耶和华对我说：“不要为这人民祈求好处；

耶路撒冷啊！我在你的城墙上设立了守望的人；他们昼夜都不缄默；提耶和华之名的啊！你们不要静止。你们也不要让神静止，直至他建立耶路撒冷，等到他使耶路撒冷在地上成为受人赞美的城。

耶和华对摩西说：“这民藐视我要到几时呢？我虽然在他们中间行了这些神迹，他们还是不信我要到几时呢？我要用瘟疫击杀他们，除灭他们；我要使你成为大国，比他们还强。”

耶稣对他们讲一个比喻，论到人必须常常祈祷，不可灰心。他说：“某城里有一个法官，不惧怕神，也不尊敬人。那城里有一个寡妇，常常来到他那里，说：‘求你给我伸冤，使我脱离我的对头！’他多次不肯，后来心里说：‘我虽然不惧怕神，也不尊敬人，只是因为这寡妇常常来麻烦我，就给她伸冤吧，免得她不断地来缠扰我。’”主说：“你们听听这不义的法官所说的话吧。难道神不会为昼夜呼吁他的选民伸冤吗？难道神会耽误他们吗？我告诉你们，他要快快地给他们伸冤。然而人子来的时候，在世上找得到这种信心吗？”
