二人曰、爾若不洩我事、我以己命代爾、迨耶和華予我地時、我必以仁慈誠實待爾、

偵者見一人自邑出、謂之曰、入邑之路、請爾示我、我必善待爾、

如是約書亞徧擊四境、山地、山麓、南土、窪地、及其諸王、靡有孑遺、凡有氣息者、悉翦滅之、循以色列之上帝耶和華所命、

於是我上帝耶和華、以巴珊王噩及其民、付於我手、我擊之、至無所遺、

以色列人不擊之、因其牧伯曾指以色列之上帝耶和華、向之發誓、會眾遂怨牧伯、牧伯謂會眾曰、我儕既指以色列之上帝耶和華而誓、不可害之、既與之誓、必容其生存、免震怒及我、又曰、當容其生存、於是使為採薪者、汲水者、服事會眾、遵牧伯所言、

耶和華以邑與王、付於以色列人手、刃擊其邑、殺其居民、靡有孑遺、其待立拿王、如昔之待耶利哥王然、

是日約書亞取瑪基大、刃擊其邑與其王、滅其居民、靡有孑遺、其待瑪基大王、如昔之待耶利哥王然、

爾毋從之、毋聽之、毋惜之、毋恤之、毋匿之、必殺勿赦、

城暨所有、必歸耶和華以滅之、惟妓喇合、及其全家、可俾生存、以其曾匿我儕所遣之使也、當滅之物、爾宜慎而遠之、免取當滅之物、使以色列營服詛而遭禍、金銀暨銅鐵諸器、悉歸耶和華為聖、入於其庫、於是民眾號呼、祭司吹角、民聞角聲、遂大號呼、城垣則圮、眾各直入、而取其城、邑中男女老幼、牛羊與驢、皆以刃殲之、約書亞命窺地之二人曰、入妓之室、以婦及其所有、攜之而出、循爾所誓、少年二諜遂入、以喇合、與其父母兄弟、及凡所有、並其親屬、攜之而出、置以色列營外、眾以火燬其城、暨其中所有、惟金銀及銅鐵諸器、置於耶和華室之庫、約書亞因妓喇合曾匿所遣窺耶利哥之使、故生存之、與其父家、及凡所有、使居以色列中、至於今日、

必於爾前驅其居民、壞其雕刻之木石、鎔鑄之偶像、毀厥崇邱、

以色列人在田野、既盡殺所追之艾人、使殞於刃、乃返於邑、以刃屠之、

爾其慎之、所往之地、勿與其居民立約、恐為爾之坎阱、必毀其壇、碎其柱像、斫其木偶、勿崇奉他神、蓋耶和華乃忌邪之上帝、名為忌邪、勿與居民立約、恐彼狥欲、從其神而獻祭、招爾共食祭品、而爾取其女妻爾子、其女狥欲從其神、使爾子亦狥欲從之、

爾臨城攻之、先告以和、如以和應、自啟邑門、則邑民必納貢而事爾、

猶大人乃往、耶和華以迦南人比利洗人付於其手、在比色殺其人一萬、

爾上帝耶和華必以之付爾、大擾亂之、至於盡絕、亦付其王於爾手、爾必滅其名於天下、莫能禦爾、迨爾殲之、

對曰、有人確告僕云、爾上帝耶和華曾諭其僕摩西、以此全地賜爾、悉滅其民、故我甚懼、以命難保、遂行是事、

既攜詣約書亞、約書亞召以色列眾至、謂諸軍長曰、來前、足踐王頸、遂前踐之、約書亞謂之曰、勿畏葸、勿恐惶、強乃心、壯乃志、耶和華待爾所攻之敵、俱必如是、

耶和華以拉吉付於以色列人手、翌日取之、擊之以刃、殺其居民、如待立拿然、

耶和華使之四周綏安、如其所誓厥祖之言、以敵付於其手、諸敵莫之能禦、

以色列人刃擊居民、悉行翦滅、凡有氣息者、靡有孑遺、火焚夏瑣、約書亞取斯諸邑與其王、刃擊其眾、而翦滅之、循耶和華僕摩西所命、

至高上帝、以敵付於爾手、宜頌美焉、亞伯蘭以其所獲者、什一奉之、

夫基遍人、原為亞摩利族之遺民、不屬以色列族、以色列族與之盟約、掃羅為以色列及猶大人熱中、謀殺戮之、

斯王與其土地、約書亞一時取之、蓋以色列之上帝耶和華為以色列人戰也、

於耶和華外、祭他神者、必翦滅之、
