“你只要自己謹慎，又要謹守你的心思，免得你忘了你親眼看見的事，又免得這些事在你有生之日離開你的心；總要把這些事傳給你的子子孫孫，免得你忘了你在何烈山，站在耶和華你們的神面前的那天。那時耶和華對我說：‘你要為我召集眾民，我要叫他們聽我的話，使他們在那地上生活的日子，可以學習敬畏我，又可以教訓自己的兒女。’

一句壞話也不可出口，卻要適當地說造就人的好話，使聽見的人得益處。

我們不把這些事向他們的子孫隱瞞，卻要把耶和華應得的讚美、他的能力，和他所行的奇事，都向後代的人述說。他在雅各設立法度，在以色列中制訂律法，就是他吩咐我們的列祖，去教訓他們的子孫的，好使後代的人，包括將要出生的兒女，都可以知道；他們也要起來，告訴他們的子孫，

日後你的兒子若是問你們：‘這是甚麼意思？’你就要回答他：‘耶和華曾經用大能的手把我們從埃及為奴之家領出來。那時法老心裡剛硬，不讓我們離開，耶和華就把埃及地所有頭生的，無論是人或是牲畜都殺了；所以，我把所有頭生的公牲口都獻給耶和華為祭；但我所有頭生的兒子，卻都要代贖回來。

良善的人從心中所存的良善發出良善，邪惡的人從心中所存的邪惡發出邪惡；因為心中所充滿的，口裡就說出來。

只要心裡尊基督為聖，以他為主；常常作好準備，去回答那些問你們為甚麼懷有盼望的人，

義人的嘴唇培育多人，愚妄人因無知死亡。

良善的人從他良善的心﹙“心”原文作“庫房。”﹚發出良善，邪惡的人從他邪惡的心﹙“心”原文作“庫房”。﹚發出邪惡。

我在君王面前講論你的法度，也不以為恥。

智慧人的嘴唇散播知識；愚昧人的心並不是這樣。

那時，敬畏耶和華的人彼此談論，耶和華也留意細聽；在他面前有記錄冊，記錄那些敬畏耶和華和思念他名的人。

智慧人的舌頭闡揚知識；愚昧人的口發出愚妄。

你們的話要常常溫和，好像是用鹽調和的，使你們知道應當怎樣回答各人。

過路的人也不說：“願耶和華所賜的福臨到你們；我們奉耶和華的名祝福你們。”

聚集在城門的眾人和長老都說：“我們都是見證人。願耶和華使進你家的這女人，像建立以色列家的拉結和利亞二人一樣。願你在以法他顯大，在伯利恆揚名。

義人的口說出智慧，他的舌頭講論正義。

波阿斯剛好從伯利恆來，對收割的人說：“願耶和華與你們同在。”他們回答：“願耶和華賜福與你。”

願耶和華照你所作的報答你；你來投靠在耶和華以色列神的翅膀下，願他充充足足酬報你。”
