你們若小心謹慎遵行我所吩咐你們的這一切誡命，愛永恆主你們的上帝，行他的道路，又緊依附着他，

你曾將你的訓令吩咐我們，為要我們慇懃遵守。

正因為這個緣故、你們這方面也要供出十二分的熱切來：要在你們的信心上加以供應美德，在美德上加以供應知識，在知識上加以供應節制，在節制上加以供應堅忍，在堅忍上加以供應虔敬，在虔敬上加以供應弟兄們之相愛，在弟兄們之相愛上加以供應愛全人類的心。因為你們若有這幾樣、並且增多着，就會使你們在認識我們的主耶穌基督上、不至於無能而不結果子了。誰若沒有這幾樣，誰就是瞎眼近視，忘了他往日的罪已得了潔淨。所以弟兄們，你們更應當竭力盡心，使你們所蒙的呼召和揀選、確定不移。這幾樣你們若實行，就絕對永不失腳。

所以親愛的，你們既期待這些事，就該竭力盡心、讓他看為無玷污、無瑕疵、在寧靜中的。

說：『你若留心聽永恆主你的上帝的聲音，行他眼中看為對的事，側耳聽他的誡命，守他一切的律例，那麼我加在埃及人身上的一切疾病、我就不加在你身上，因為我永恆主乃是醫治你的。』

所以我親愛的弟兄們，你們要堅定、不搖動，時常充溢出主的工，因為知道你們的勞苦在主裏面不是空的。

『將來你們若留心聽從我今日所吩咐你們的誡命，愛永恆主你們的上帝，全心全意地事奉他，

我們切願你們各人都證顯出同樣的熱切以達到所確信的指望到末了，

『以下是永恆主你們的上帝所吩咐我教訓你們的誡命、律例、典章，使你們在所要過去取得為業的地上去遵行的，好叫你敬畏永恆主你的上帝，遵守他一切的律例、誡命、就是我所吩咐你的，好使你、和你兒子、以及你的子子孫孫、儘你一生的日子都這樣行，使你得享長壽。

這話是可信可靠的。關於這些事、我願你堅確地講論，叫已信上帝的人留心於正經的職業。這些事對於人都是美好而有益的。
