Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,

He loved your people of long ago. He chose their children after them. So he brought you out of Egypt. He used his great strength to do it.

When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion.The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back.The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs?

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

“ I have loved you,” says the Lord. But you say,“ How have you loved us?”“ Is not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord.“ Yet I have loved Jacob

Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and that he may confirm the word that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”

“ At that time, declares the Lord, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people.”

to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us

It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend;you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you,“ You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”;
