From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.

号角声越来越嘹亮。摩西说话，上帝就回应他，声音好像雷鸣。

有哪个民族像你们一样，听见了上帝在火中说话，还活了下来？

你降临在西奈山，从天上与他们说话，赐给他们公正的典章、信实的律法、美好的律例和诫命。

你们必须谨慎，切勿拒绝对你们说话的上帝。因为以色列人违背了在地上警戒他们的人，尚且逃脱不了惩罚，何况我们违背从天上警戒我们的上帝呢？

那时雷电交加，号角嘹亮，山上冒烟，百姓看见此情景，都吓得浑身颤抖，不敢挨近。他们对摩西说：“求你跟我们说话，我们必听从。不要让上帝直接跟我们说话，恐怕我们会丧命！”摩西对百姓说：“不用害怕，上帝降临是要试验你们，好让你们时时敬畏祂，不致犯罪。”百姓都站得远远的，摩西独自走进上帝所在的密云中。耶和华吩咐摩西对以色列百姓说：“既然你们已经亲眼看见我从天上向你们说话，

你们并非来到那座摸得到、有火焰、乌云、黑暗、狂风、

耶和华的荣耀停留在西奈山上，密云遮盖了山六天。第七天，耶和华在云中召唤摩西。
