In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

In the streets their children will be killed by swords. Their homes will be filled with terror. The young men and women will die. The babies and old people will die.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

外面有刀劍，裏面有瘟疫有饑荒；在田野的必死於刀劍；在城中的必有饑荒瘟疫吞滅他。

『永恆主啊，看我有多大患難哦！我的心腸沸騰着；我心裏翻轉着；因為我大大悖逆：外頭有刀劍使人喪子，家裏則如死亡。

因此永恆主使迦勒底人的王上來攻擊他們，就在他們聖所的殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不顧惜壯丁或處女、老邁的或衰弱的；永恆主把這一切人都交在迦勒底王手裏。

你們卻說：『不！我們要騎馬奔跑；』故此你們真地要逃跑；你們又說：『我們要騎迅速輕快的』；故此追趕你們的也必迅速輕快。

因為死亡上來，進了我們的窗戶，入了我們的宮堡，要從街上剪除孩童，從廣場上剪掉青年。

雖然如此，我們的身體卻一點鬆息也沒有；就是到了馬其頓、還是這樣；相反的，我們倒凡事遭遇困難；外有衝突，內有憂懼。

至於你們剩下的人呢、他們在仇敵之地時、我必使怯懦餒弱之氣進他們的心；飄蕩落葉的響聲也會追趕他們；他們必逃跑、像人逃避刀劍；沒有人追趕，他們也跌倒。沒有人追趕、他們也彼此相撞而跌倒，像在刀劍之前；在仇敵面前、你們也站立不住。

喫奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴而貼住上膛；孩童求餅，無人擘給他們。

夜間每到交更時分，你要起來喊求，在主面前傾心如水！你的孩童在各街頭受餓發昏，你要為他們的性命向主舉手禱告。永恆主啊，看吧！鑒察吧！看你向誰這樣加罰過！婦人哪能喫自己所生育的，喫自己撫弄的嬰孩呢？祭司和神言人哪可在主的聖所中被殺戮呢？少年人老年人都在街中長臥在地上；我的處女我的壯丁都倒斃於刀下；你發怒的日子殺戮他們；你屠殺，並不顧惜！你招聚了四圍我所恐懼的，像在制定節日一樣；當永恆主發怒的日子，沒逃脫的，沒殘存的；我所撫弄、所養育的、我的仇敵都殺淨了。
