The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you.

當你們的上帝耶和華把他們交在你們手裡、使你們打敗他們後，你們必須徹底毀滅他們。不可與他們立約，不可憐憫他們。

你們的上帝耶和華將把你們附近各族的城邑賜給你們，你們要將裡面有氣息的全部消滅。要遵照你們的上帝耶和華的吩咐，徹底滅絕赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人，

你要謹慎，到了目的地後，不可與當地的居民立約，免得因此而陷入網羅。相反，要拆掉他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，砍掉他們的亞舍拉神像。不可拜別的神明，因為耶和華是痛恨不貞的上帝，祂名為『痛恨不貞』。」「不可與當地的居民立約，免得他們與自己的神明苟合時邀請你，你就吃他們的祭物，給兒子娶他們的女兒為妻，以致她們與自己的神明苟合時誘使你的兒子犯同樣的罪。

不可跟這些民族及其神明立約，也不可讓這些民族住在你的土地上，免得他們使你得罪我，你若供奉他們的神明，必因此而陷入網羅。」

一定要趕走當地的居民，毀掉他們一切的石像和鑄像，拆毀他們所有的邱壇。你們要佔領那片土地，住在那裡，因為我已經把那裡賜給你們作產業了。你們要按宗族家系抽籤分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪塊地就得哪塊地。如果你們不趕走那裡的居民，留下來的人必成為你們眼裡的刺和肋旁的荊棘，在你們所居之地攪擾你們，我也會用預備對付他們的方法來對付你們。』」

你們的上帝耶和華要將他們交給你們，使他們驚恐萬狀，直到被滅絕。祂要將他們的王交在你們手中，無人能抵擋你們，你們要毀滅他們，使他們的名字從世上絕跡。你們要燒毀他們的神像，不可貪圖神像上的金銀，不可將那些金銀據為己有，免得你們因此陷入網羅；因為那是你們的上帝耶和華所憎惡的。

不要怕他們，要牢記你們的上帝耶和華曾如何對付埃及和法老，
