“你問問在你以前過去的日子，自從神創造人在地上以來，從天這邊到天那邊，有沒有人行過這樣的大事，聽過像這樣的事呢？有沒有一個民族聽見神在火中說話的聲音，像你聽見的一樣，還能活著呢？有沒有一位神嘗試藉著試驗、神蹟、奇事、戰爭、大能的手和伸出來的膀臂，以及大而可畏的事，把一國的人民從別的國中領出來，像耶和華你們的神在埃及，在你們面前為你們所作的一切事呢？這是要顯明給你看，使你知道，只有耶和華是神；除了他以外，再沒有別的神。

你看見我們的列祖在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在紅海的哀求，因為你知道埃及人怎樣狂妄自大地對待他們，所以就對法老和他的一切臣僕，以及他國中所有的人民，施行神蹟奇事，為你自己建立了至今仍存的名聲。你又在我們的列祖面前把海分開，使他們在海中的乾地上走過去；把追趕他們的人丟在深處，好像石頭拋進怒海之中。

你不要怕他們，只要牢牢地記住，耶和華你的神向法老和全埃及所行的事，就是你親眼看見的大試驗、神蹟、奇事、大能的手和伸出來的膀臂，這都是耶和華你的神領你出來的時候使用的；耶和華你的神也必照樣待你懼怕的所有民族。
