從前你們不是上帝的子民，現在卻作了祂的子民；從前你們未蒙憐憫，現在卻蒙了憐憫。親愛的弟兄姊妹，你們是客旅，是寄居的，我勸你們要禁戒與靈魂為敵的邪情私慾。

你們豈不知道不義的人不能承受上帝的國嗎？不要自欺，一切淫亂的、拜偶像的、通姦的、變態的、同性戀的、偷竊的、貪婪的、酗酒的、毀謗的、欺詐的，都不能承受上帝的國。你們當中有些以前就是這樣的人，但靠著主耶穌基督的名和我們上帝的靈，你們已經被洗淨，成為聖潔的義人了。

你們從前活在黑暗中，現在既然活在主的光明中，行事為人就該像光明的兒女。光明總是結出良善、公義和真理的果子。

感謝上帝！你們從前雖然做過罪的奴隸，現在卻衷心服從了所傳給你們的教導，從罪中得到釋放，成為義的奴僕。

「你們的上帝耶和華今天吩咐你們遵守這些律例和典章，你們要全心全意地謹慎遵守。你們今天已經宣稱耶和華是你們的上帝，答應要聽從祂，行祂的道，遵守祂的一切律例、誡命和典章。耶和華今天已經照祂的應許宣稱你們是祂的子民，是祂寶貴的產業。因此，你們要遵守祂的一切誡命，

但現在你們已從罪中得到釋放，作了上帝的奴僕，這樣會使你們聖潔，最終得到永生。
