When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty.

Suppose two people don’t agree about something. Then they must take their case to court. The judges will decide the case. They will let the one who isn’t guilty go free. And they will punish the one who is guilty.

謂士師曰、慎爾所行、蓋爾聽訟非為人、乃為耶和華、爾行鞫時、耶和華與爾偕焉、當寅畏耶和華、慎爾所為、因我上帝耶和華無不義、不偏視、不受賄也、約沙法亦立利未人與祭司、及以色列族長於耶路撒冷、為耶和華行鞫聽訟、居於耶路撒冷、王命之曰、爾當寅畏耶和華、專心誠實行此、爾之昆弟居於各邑、如有訟事就爾、或為流血、或犯法度誡命、典章律例、當訓戒之、免其獲罪於耶和華、致耶和華之怒及爾、與爾昆弟、爾依此而行、則無罪矣、

於爾上帝耶和華所賜之邑、按各支派、設立士師、有司、秉公鞫民、毋反其正、毋偏視人、毋受賄賂、蓋賄賂使明者目盲、義者詞屈、必循至公、則可生存、得爾上帝耶和華所錫之土、

貧者有訟、勿枉斷、遠諸虛偽、勿殺不辜、勿戮義人、蓋我不以惡人為義、

耶和華曰、大衛家歟、當朝行公義、拯被刧者於暴者之手、恐我因爾惡行、發怒若火炎炎、莫能撲滅、

爾目清潔、不視邪惡、不觀橫逆、爾何顧諟行詐者乎、惡人吞噬義於己者、爾何緘默乎、

受賄而義惡人、奪義人之義、禍哉其人、

以色列之上帝有言、以色列之磐石謂我曰、以義治人、寅畏上帝、而秉權者、

世人歟、爾緘口豈公義、鞫人豈正直乎、非也、爾心造惡、且於地上、衡施強暴兮、

訟者二人當就耶和華、立於當時之祭司士師前、士師詳察、其證果偽、欲害昆弟、則必以其所欲加諸昆弟者、加乎其身、以除惡於爾中、

爾之牧伯悖逆、黨於盜賊、好賄賂、索苞苴、不伸孤子之冤、不理嫠婦之訟、○

今斧置樹根、凡不結善果者、則斫之、委於火、

有訟事必審鞫、按我律而斷之、在我諸節期、必守我法律典章、亦守我安息日為聖、

當時我命爾士師曰、爾聽訟、或人與宗族、或人與賓旅、當秉公以行鞫、鞫時、毋行偏視、無論貴賤、必聽其詞、不可畏人、蓋鞫事屬上帝也、事遇難斷、則呈我聽之、

曰、爾曹聽訟不公、偏袒惡人、將至何時乎、當為孤貧伸冤、為艱苦困乏者行義兮、救援貧乏、脫於惡人之手兮、

將有一王以義而王、牧伯以公為治、其人若逃狂風之所、若避暴雨之區、若川流之水、在旱乾之處、若巨磐之蔭、在困人之地、

我出、至於邑門、設位街衢、少者見我引避、老者起立、侯伯禁言、以手掩口、尊者緘默、舌貼於腭、耳聞我而祝嘏、目睹我而為證、因我拯哀呼之貧民、救無助之孤子、將亡者之祝嘏臨我、我使嫠婦心樂而歌、我以義為衣、以公為袍為冕、我為瞽者之目、跛者之足、為貧乏者之父、察不識者之事、折不義者之齒、奪其所刧於口、

當斯時也、義與不義者、事上帝與不事上帝者、爾將轉而分辨之、

當為喑啞者啟口、為孤獨者伸冤、啟口秉公判斷、為貧苦者辨屈、○

緣此法律廢弛、公義不彰、惡者環繞義人、公義顯然違反、

我曰、雅各之首領、以色列家之有司歟、爾其聽之、公義非爾所當知乎、惟爾惡善好惡、剝人之膚、剔肉於骨、
