If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house,

Suppose a man marries a woman. But later he decides he doesn’t like her. He finds something shameful about her. So he gives her a letter of divorce and sends her away from his house.

“ When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house,

更罰銀一百舍客勒、以予女之父、因加惡名於以色列處女、故女仍為其妻、畢生不休、

人若娶妻、同室之後惡之、

背叛之以色列、因行淫為我所逐、予以離書、其妹悖逆之猶大仍不畏懼、亦復行淫、我悉鑒察、

倘別有所娶、則待此女之衣食與好合之事、仍不可間斷、

主如是云、我出爾母、離書安在、或作何嘗有離書我鬻爾於我何債主乎、爾曹見鬻、因爾之罪也、爾母見出、因爾之愆也、

則其淫女之人、必以銀五十舍客勒予女之父、既辱是女、必娶之為妻、畢生不休、○

對曰、摩西許寫離書以出之、耶穌曰、摩西以爾心忍、故有此命、但造物之始、天主造人、乃造一男一女、是故人離父母、與妻聯合、二人成為一體、如是不復為二、乃一體矣、故天主所耦者、人不可分、耶穌在室時、門徒復以此事問之、耶穌曰、凡出妻而他娶者、即負妻而犯姦也、妻棄夫而他適者、即行淫也、○

後夫亦惡之、書離書付婦手而出之、或後夫娶之之後而死、

若離之、則勿再嫁、或仍與夫和、可也、夫亦不可出婦、論其餘之人、我言非主言、若兄弟有不信主之婦、婦願與之同居、則勿出之、

以色列天主萬有之主曰、出妻之事、與虐待其妻之人、我所厭惡、故當守爾心、勿欺爾妻、○

其夫約瑟義人也、不欲顯辱之、而欲私休之、

又有言云、若人出妻、當以離書予之、惟我告爾、若非為淫故而出妻、是使之行淫、凡娶被出之婦者、則犯姦也、○

凡出妻而他娶者、則犯姦淫、凡娶人所出之婦者、亦犯姦淫、○

人有二妻、一見愛、一被惡、見愛者被惡者各從彼生子、而長子為被惡者所生、
