If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house,

Suppose a man marries a woman. But later he decides he doesn’t like her. He finds something shameful about her. So he gives her a letter of divorce and sends her away from his house.

“ When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house,

法利賽人說：「這樣，摩西為甚麼吩咐給妻子休書，就可以休她呢？」耶穌說：「摩西因為你們的心硬，所以許你們休妻，但起初並不是這樣。我告訴你們，凡休妻另娶的，若不是為淫亂的緣故，就是犯姦淫了；有人娶那被休的婦人，也是犯姦淫了。」

並要罰他一百舍客勒銀子，給女子的父親，因為他將醜名加在以色列的一個處女身上。女子仍作他的妻，終身不可休她。

「人若娶妻，與她同房之後恨惡她，

背道的以色列行淫，我為這緣故給她休書休她；我看見她奸詐的妹妹猶大，還不懼怕，也去行淫。

若另娶一個，那女子的吃食、衣服，並好合的事，仍不可減少。

耶和華如此說：我休你們的母親，休書在哪裏呢？我將你們賣給我哪一個債主呢？你們被賣，是因你們的罪孽；你們的母親被休，是因你們的過犯。

這男子就要拿五十舍客勒銀子給女子的父親；因他玷污了這女子，就要娶她為妻，終身不可休她。

他們說：「摩西許人寫了休書便可以休妻。」耶穌說：「摩西因為你們的心硬，所以寫這條例給你們；但從起初創造的時候，神造人是造男造女。因此，人要離開父母，與妻子連合，二人成為一體。既然如此，夫妻不再是兩個人，乃是一體的了。所以，神配合的，人不可分開。」到了屋裏，門徒就問他這事。耶穌對他們說：「凡休妻另娶的，就是犯姦淫，辜負他的妻子；妻子若離棄丈夫另嫁，也是犯姦淫了。」

後夫若恨惡她，寫休書交在她手中，打發她離開夫家，或是娶她為妻的後夫死了，

若是離開了，不可再嫁，或是仍同丈夫和好。丈夫也不可離棄妻子。我對其餘的人說（不是主說）：倘若某弟兄有不信的妻子，妻子也情願和他同住，他就不要離棄妻子。

耶和華－以色列的神說：「休妻的事和以強暴待妻的人都是我所恨惡的！所以當謹守你們的心，不可行詭詐。」這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

她丈夫約瑟是個義人，不願意明明地羞辱她，想要暗暗地把她休了。

「又有話說：『人若休妻，就當給她休書。』只是我告訴你們，凡休妻的，若不是為淫亂的緣故，就是叫她作淫婦了；人若娶這被休的婦人，也是犯姦淫了。」

凡休妻另娶的就是犯姦淫；娶被休之妻的也是犯姦淫。」

「人若有二妻，一為所愛，一為所惡，所愛的、所惡的都給他生了兒子，但長子是所惡之妻生的。
