時我上帝耶和華聽希實本王西宏剛愎厥心、不容我過其地、為我所敗、以今日之事為證。

But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through. For the Lord your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to give him into your hands, as he has now done.

But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us walk through. The Lord your God had made him stubborn in his heart and spirit. The Lord wanted to hand him over to you. And that’s exactly what he has done.

But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for the Lord your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might give him into your hand, as he is this day.

“ But King Sihon of Heshbon refused to allow us to pass through, because the Lord your God made Sihon stubborn and defiant so he could help you defeat him, as he has now done.

But King Sihon of Heshbon would not let us travel through his land, for the LORD your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to hand him over to you, as has now taken place.

西宏不容以色列人从他的境界经过，反而聚集了自己的人民，出到旷野去攻击以色列人，西宏到了雅杂，与以色列人交战。

耶和华对摩西说：“你起程回到埃及去的时候，要留意我交在你手里的一切奇事，把它们行在法老面前；我却要使他的心刚硬，他就不让人民离开。

经上有话对法老说：“我把你兴起来，是要藉着你显出我的大能，并且使我的名传遍全地。”这样看来，他愿意怜悯谁就怜悯谁，愿意谁刚硬就使谁刚硬。这样，你会对我说：“那么他为什么责怪人呢？有谁抗拒他的旨意呢？”你这个人哪，你是谁，竟敢跟神顶嘴呢？被造的怎么可以对造他的说：“你为什么把我做成这个样子呢？”陶匠难道没有权用同一团的泥，又做贵重的、又做卑贱的器皿吗？如果神有意要显明他的忿怒，彰显他的大能，而多多容忍那可怒、预备遭毁灭的器皿，为了要使他丰盛的荣耀，彰显在那蒙恩、早已预备要得荣耀的器皿上，这又有什么不可呢？

西宏却不信任以色列人，不让他们经过他的境界；西宏聚集了他所有的人民，在雅杂安营，与以色列人争战。

因为我知道你是顽固的，你的颈项是铁的，你的额是铜的，

摩西和亚伦在法老面前行了这一切神迹；但耶和华使法老的心刚硬，所以他不肯让以色列人离开他的地。

除了住在基遍的希未人以外，没有一座城与以色列人议和的；所有其他的城都是以色列人作战夺取的。因为这是出于耶和华的旨意，他使他们心里刚硬，要与以色列人交战，好把他们完全毁灭，使他们不蒙怜悯，却要被消灭，正如耶和华吩咐摩西的。
