自離迦叠巴尼亞時、至渡撒烈溪時、歷三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之諸武士、俱死於營中、循主向彼所誓之言、

Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

“耶和华听见了你们说话的声音，就恼怒，起誓说：‘这个邪恶世代的人，连一个也不能看见我起誓应许赐给他们列祖的美地；

我在旷野也曾经向他们举手起誓，必不领他们到我赐给他们的流奶与蜜之地，就是万邦中最荣美的地。

所以我在忿怒中起誓，说：“他们绝不可进入我的安息。”

这些人中间，没有一个是摩西和亚伦祭司从前在西奈旷野数点以色列人的时候，数点过的。因为耶和华论到他们曾经说过：“他们必死在旷野。”所以除了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚以外，连一个也没有剩下。

他们来到了巴兰旷野的加低斯，见摩西、亚伦和以色列的全体会众，向摩西、亚伦及全体会众报告，又把那地的果子给他们看。

从何烈山经过西珥山的路，到达加低斯．巴尼亚，共有十一天的路程。

“我们照着耶和华我们的神吩咐我们的，从何烈山起行，走过你们所见那大而可怕的旷野，沿着到亚摩利人山地的路而行；后来到了加低斯．巴尼亚。

你要对他们说：‘耶和华说，我指着我的永生起誓，我必照着你们所说给我听的，对待你们：你们的尸体必倒在这旷野；你们中间被数点过的，就是按着你们的数目，从二十岁及以上，向我发过怨言的，都不得进入我起誓给你们居住的那地；只有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚才可以进去。但是你们的孩子，就是你们所说他们必被掳掠的，我要把他们领进去，他们必得着你们厌弃的那地。至于你们，你们的尸体必倒在这旷野。你们的儿女必在旷野飘流四十年，担当你们背信之罪，直到你们的尸体在旷野都灭尽了。照着你们窥探那地的日数共四十天，一天算一年，你们要担当罪孽四十年，你们就知道我为什么与你们作对。’我耶和华已经说了，我必要这样对待这聚集反抗我的恶会众；他们要在这旷野灭尽，在这里死亡。”

但他们大多数的人，都得不到神的喜悦，因此他们都死在旷野。

我们一生的日子都在你的震怒中消逝，我们度尽的年岁好像一声叹息。

于是你们在加低斯住了许多日子。”

你使人归回尘土，说：“世人哪！你们要归回尘土。”

就不要硬着心，好像在旷野惹他发怒、试探他的日子一样；在那里，你们的祖先以试验来试探我，观看我的作为有四十年之久。所以，我向那个世代的人发怒，说：‘他们心里常常迷误，不认识我的道路。’我就在烈怒中起誓，说：‘他们绝不可进入我的安息。’”弟兄们，你们要小心，免得你们中间有人存着邪恶、不信的心，以致离弃了永活的神；趁着还有叫作“今天”的时候，总要天天互相劝勉，免得你们中间有人受了罪恶的诱惑，心里就刚硬了。如果我们把起初的信念坚持到底，就是有分于基督的人了。经上说：“如果你们今天听从他的声音，就不要硬着心，像惹他发怒的时候一样。”那时，听了他的话而惹他发怒的是谁呢？不就是摩西从埃及领出来的那些人吗？四十年之久，神向谁发怒呢？不就是向那些犯了罪陈尸旷野的人吗？他又向谁起誓说，他们绝对不可以进入他的安息呢？不就是向那些不顺从的人吗？这样看来，他们不能进入安息，是因为不信的缘故。

虽然这一切事情你们都早已知道，我仍然要提醒你们：从前主从埃及地把人民救出来，跟着就把那些不信的人除灭了。

所以他对他们起誓，必使他们倒在旷野，

‘从埃及上来二十岁及以上的人，必不得看见我对亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许的地，因为他们没有专心跟从我。
