那麼你總要立永恆主你的上帝所要揀選的人做王來管理你；你要從你族弟兄中立一位做王來管理你；不可讓一個外籍人、不是你族弟兄的、管理你。

你总要立耶和华你神所拣选的人为王。必从你弟兄中立一人；不可立你弟兄以外的人为王。

你一定要立耶和华—你上帝所拣选的人为你的王。要从你弟兄中立一人为你的王，不可立你弟兄之外的外邦人治理你。

be sure to appoint over you a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your fellow Israelites. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not an Israelite.

When that happens, make sure you appoint over yourselves a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your own people. Don’t appoint over yourselves someone from another country. Don’t choose anyone who isn’t from one of the tribes of Israel.

you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

If this happens, be sure to select as king the man the Lord your God chooses. You must appoint a fellow Israelite; he may not be a foreigner.

他們的貴顯者必是他們自己中間的人；掌管他們的必出於他們中間；我必使他走近前來，他就親近我；因為誰有膽量敢來親近我呢？永恆主發神諭說。

如今呢、我兒啊，願永恆主與你同在，使你順利、得以建造永恆主你的上帝的殿，照他指着你而說的話。

撒母耳對眾民說：『你們看見永恆主所揀選的人沒有？在眾民中沒有一個人能比得上他的。』眾民就大聲歡呼說：『願王萬歲！』

而在我的眾兒子裏——因為永恆主賜給我許多兒子——他揀選了我的兒子所羅門坐永恆主之國的王位來管理以色列。

不要使你的腳沒有穿鞋哦！不要使你的喉嚨乾渴哦！你卻說：「不！別夢想啦！我喜愛外族人的神，我決要隨從他們。」

耶西就打發人去領他來：他臉色赤紅：雙目清秀，丰采俊美。永恆主說：『這一個就是了；你起來膏他。』撒母耳就拿了油角，在他哥哥們中間膏了他；從那一天起、永恆主的靈就大大感動大衛。於是撒母耳起身、往拉瑪去了。

地上君王列陣站着，眾人君一同陰謀，要敵擋永恆主，敵擋他所膏立的，說：

從前掃羅做王管理我們的時候、率領以色列人出入的乃是你。永恆主也曾對你說過：『是你要牧養我人民以色列；是你要做人君來管理以色列。」』

掃羅未到的前一天、永恆主已經開啓撒母耳的心耳，說：『明天大約這時候、我要打發一個人從便雅憫地來見你，你要膏立他為人君來管理我人民以色列；他必拯救我人民脫離非利士人的手，因為我人民的困苦我已經看見了；他們的哀叫已經上達於我了。』撒母耳看見了掃羅，永恆主就應時對撒母耳說：『看哪，這就是我對你所說到的：那管理我人民的、正是這個人。』

『我，我已立我的君王於錫安、我的聖山上。』

那些武裝好了準備打仗的兵丁到希伯崙來歸大衛、要照永恆主的話將掃羅的國位轉歸大衛的，其數目有以下這一些：

那麼請告訴我們，你以為怎樣；納丁稅給羅馬皇帝該撒可以不可以？』
