看哪，永恆主站在他旁邊，說：『我是永恆主，你祖父亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝；你所躺臥的地我要賜給你和你的後裔。你的後裔必像地上的塵沙那麼多；你必向西向東向北向南突破疆界；地上萬宗族必用你的名和你後裔的名給自己祝福。

羅得離別了亞伯蘭以後，永恆主對亞伯蘭說：『從你所在的地方，你舉目向北、向南、向東、向西觀看！你所看見的一切地，我都要賜給你和你的後裔，直到永遠。

『永恆主發神諭說：我指着自己來起誓，你既作了這事，不留下你兒子、你獨生的兒子，我就必定大大地賜福與你，必定使你的後裔大大增多，如同天上的星，如同海邊的沙；你的後裔必佔領仇敵的城。地上萬國都必用你後裔的名來給自己祝福，因為你聽了我的聲音。』
