因罪過的緣故，聖民（“聖民”和8:10~11的“天象”原文是同一個字）連同常獻的祭都交給牠；牠把真理丟在地上，任意而行，凡事順利。

獸的七頭中有一個似乎受了致命傷，但那致命傷卻醫好了。全地的人都很驚奇，跟從那獸。因為龍把權柄交給了獸，大家就拜龍，也拜獸，說：“有誰可以跟這獸相比？有誰能與牠作戰呢？”龍又給了那獸一張說誇大和褻瀆話的嘴巴，也給了牠權柄可以任意而行四十二個月。獸就開口向神說褻瀆的話，褻瀆他的名和他的帳幕，以及那些住在天上的。牠得了允許能跟聖徒作戰，並且能勝過他們；又有權柄給了牠，可以管轄各支派、各民族、各方言、各邦國。所有住在地上的人，名字沒有記在創世以來被殺的羊羔之生命冊上的，都要拜牠。凡有耳的，就應當聽！如果人應該被俘擄，就必被俘擄；如果人應該被刀殺，就必被刀殺。在這裡聖徒要有忍耐和信心！

他必說話，敵擋至高者；他必折磨至高者的聖民，又想改變節期和律法；聖民必交在他的手中，一載、二載、半載（“一載、二載、半載”或譯：“一個時期、多個時期、半個時期”）。

神要眾王行他的旨意，就把意念放在他們心中，叫他們同心把自己的國獻給那獸，直到神的話都實現為止。

他的軍隊必起來，褻瀆聖殿，就是那堡壘，廢除常獻祭，又在殿裡設立了那使地荒涼的可憎的像。那些作惡違背聖約的人，他必用奉承的話敗壞他們；但認識神的人民，必剛強行事。民中的智慧人必使許多人明白是非；但他們必有很多日子倒在刀劍之下，或被火燒，或被擄去，或被搶掠。他們仆倒的時候，必得到一些援助，必有許多人用奉承的話要和他們聯盟。智慧人中有些仆倒的，為要鍛煉他們，潔淨他們，使他們成為雪白，直到末了，因為要到了指定的時候，結局才會來到。“那王必任意而行，自高自大，超過所有的神，又說一些怪誕的話攻擊萬神之神。他必行事順利，直到神的忿怒完畢；因為所定的事必會實現。

因為他的審判是真實公義的。他審判了那大淫婦，那以淫亂敗壞了世界的；並且為他的僕人向淫婦伸了流血的冤。”

因為他們曾流聖徒和先知的血，現在你給他們血喝，這是他們該受的。”

牠漸漸長大，高及天象，把一些天象和星星摔落在地上，用腳踐踏。

我又看見那婦人喝聖徒的血，和那為耶穌作見證的人的血，喝醉了。我看見了她，就大大驚奇。

我聽見那身穿細麻衣、站在河水以上的人，向天舉起左右手，指著活到永遠的主起誓，說：“要經過一載、二載、半載（“一載、二載、半載”或譯：“一個時期、多個時期、半個時期”）；在他們完全粉碎聖民的勢力的時候，這一切事就都要完成。”

你看見的那十角，就是十王，他們還沒有取得王權；但要跟獸一同得著權柄，作王一個時期。他們同心合意，把自己的權力權柄交給那獸。
