可是你仍然向我的百姓自高自大，不放他們走。

你要對君王和太后說：「你們當自卑，坐下；因你們的王冠，就是你們華美的冠冕已經掉落了。」

尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着上帝起誓，他卻背叛，硬着頸項，內心頑固，不歸向耶和華－以色列的上帝。

他們卻不聽從，竟硬着頸項，像他們祖先一樣，不信服耶和華－他們的上帝。

驕傲在敗壞以先，內心高傲在跌倒之前。

「萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：『看哪，我必使我所說的一切災禍臨到這城和屬它的城鎮，因為他們硬着頸項不聽我的話。』」

你要發出你滿溢的怒氣，見一切驕傲的人，使他降卑；你見一切驕傲的人，將他制伏，把惡人踐踏在原來地方。

凡心裏驕傲的，為耶和華所憎惡；擊掌保證，他難免受罰。

總要趁着還有今日，天天彼此相勸，免得你們中間有人被罪迷惑，心腸剛硬了。

因他伸手攻擊上帝，逞強對抗全能者，挺着頸項，用盾牌堅厚的凸面向全能者直闖；又因他的臉蒙上油脂，腰上積滿肥肉。

「明亮之星，早晨之子啊，你竟然從天墜落！你這攻敗列國的，竟然被砍倒在地上！你心裏曾說：『我要升到天上，我要高舉我的寶座在上帝的眾星之上，我要坐在會眾聚集的山上，在極北的地方。我要升到高雲之上，我要與至高者同等。』然而，你必墜落陰間，到地府極深之處。凡看見你的都要定睛望你，留意看你，說：『就是這個人嗎？他使大地顫抖，使列國震動，使世界如同荒野，使城鎮傾覆；是他，不釋放被擄的人歸家。』

現在我－尼布甲尼撒讚美、尊崇、恭敬天上的王，因為他所行的全都信實，他所做的盡都公平。那行事驕傲的，他能降為卑。」

王說：「這大巴比倫豈不是我用大能大力建為首都，要顯示我威嚴的榮耀嗎？」這話還在王口中的時候，有聲音從天降下，說：「尼布甲尼撒王啊，有話對你說，你的國離開你了。你必被趕出離開世人，與野地的走獸同住，吃草如牛，且要經過七個時期；等你知道至高者在人的國中掌權，要將國賜給誰就賜給誰。」當時這話就應驗在尼布甲尼撒身上，他被趕出離開世人，吃草如牛，身體被天上的露水滴濕，頭髮長得像鷹的羽毛，指甲長得像鳥爪。

他用膀臂施展大能；他趕散心裏妄想的狂傲人。他叫有權柄的失位，叫卑賤的升高。

「耶和華如此說：扶助埃及的必傾倒，埃及驕傲的權勢必降為卑，從密奪到色弗尼，人必倒在刀下。這是主耶和華說的。

我告訴你們，這人回家去比那人倒算為義了。因為凡自高的，必降為卑；自甘卑微的，必升為高。」

少女巴比倫哪，下來坐在塵埃；迦勒底啊，沒有寶座，要坐在地上；你不再稱為柔弱嬌嫩。

底本的居民哪，要從你榮耀的座位上下來，坐着忍受乾渴；因毀滅摩押的人上來攻擊你，毀壞了你的堡壘。

現在，從埃及人狂傲地對待以色列人這件事上，我知道耶和華比萬神更大。」

你們為何硬着心，像埃及人和法老硬着心一樣呢？上帝豈不是嚴厲對付埃及，使埃及人釋放以色列人，他們就走了嗎？
