When the magicians, astrologers, wise men, and diviners entered, I recounted the dream for them. But they were unable to make known its interpretation to me.

於是巫人術士、迦勒底人、卜筮皆至、我告以夢、彼未為我解之、

於是博士賢人、太史卜師、咸集、余告以所夢、彼不能解其兆焉、

於是博士、術士、迦勒底人、星士、咸集、我告以所夢、彼不能示我其兆、示我其兆或作為我解之

When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.

Those who try to figure things out by using magic came. So did those who study the heavens. I told all of them what I had dreamed. But they couldn’t tell me what it meant.

who frustrates the omens of the empty talkers and humiliates the omen readers, who overturns the counsel of the wise men and makes their advice seem foolish,

So do not listen to your prophets or to those who claim to predict the future by divination, by dreams, by consulting the dead, or by practicing magic. They keep telling you,‘ You do not need to be subject to the king of Babylon.’Do not listen to them, because their prophecies are lies. Listening to them will only cause you to be taken far away from your native land. I will drive you out of your country and you will die in exile.

They again replied,“ Let the king inform us of the dream; then we will disclose its interpretation.”

And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people– who have warped minds and are disqualified in the faith– also oppose the truth.But they will not go much further, for their foolishness will be obvious to everyone, just like it was with Jannes and Jambres.

In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar had many dreams. His mind was disturbed and he suffered from insomnia.The king issued an order to summon the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and wise men in order to explain his dreams to him. So they came and awaited the king’s instructions.

The wise men replied to the king,“ There is no man on earth who is able to disclose the king’s secret, for no king, regardless of his position and power, has ever requested such a thing from any magician, astrologer, or wise man.

Daniel replied to the king,“ The mystery that the king is asking about is such that no wise men, astrologers, magicians, or diviners can possibly disclose it to the king.

In the morning he was troubled, so he called for all the diviner-priests of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.
