When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.

Those who try to figure things out by using magic came. So did those who study the heavens. I told all of them what I had dreamed. But they couldn’t tell me what it meant.

我使假先知的预兆无法应验，使占卜者丑态百出；我颠覆智者的知识，使之愚不可及。

你们不可听信你们的先知、占卜者、解梦者、巫师和术士的话，他们说巴比伦王不会征服你们。他们的预言是骗人的，只会使你们远离家园。我会赶走你们，使你们灭亡。

他们再次对王说：“请王将梦告诉仆人，仆人好解释梦的意思。”

现在这些人敌对真理，就像从前雅尼和佯庇反对摩西一样，他们的心思坏透了，他们的信仰是虚假的。不过，他们猖狂不了多久，因为他们的愚昧行径必暴露在众人面前，就像雅尼和佯庇的下场一样。

尼布甲尼撒在执政第二年做了梦，心里烦乱，无法入睡，便派人召来术士、巫师、行法术的和占星家，为他解梦。他们都来到王面前。

占星家说：“王所要求的，世上无人能做到，因为再伟大、再有权势的君王也没问过术士、巫师或占星家这样的事。

但以理回答说：“没有智者、术士、巫师或占星家可以解答王所问的奥秘，

早上法老心中不安，就派人召来埃及所有的术士和博学之士，把梦告诉他们，可是没有一个人能为他解梦。
