外族人，就是列邦中最残暴的人要把它砍倒，丢弃在那里，它折断的枝干散落在山间和河谷中。世上各族都离开它的荫下，天上的飞禽要栖身在那折断的树干上，地上的走兽要躺卧在它的枝条中。

王看见圣洁的守望者从天而降，说，‘将这树砍倒、毁灭，但把树丕用铁环和铜环箍住留在野地的青草中，让他被天上的露水浸湿，与野兽一起吃草，达七年之久。’

现在斧头已经放在树根上了，不结好果子的树都要被砍下丢在火里。”

传令官大声宣布说：“各族、各邦、各语种的人啊，王有令，

凡不结好果子的树，都要被砍下来丢在火里。

它的叶子美丽，果实累累，可作众生的食物。野兽在它的荫下躺卧，飞鸟在它的枝头栖息，一切生灵都从它那里得到食物。

他对园丁说，‘三年来，我一直盼望它结果子，它却一个也没结。把它砍了，免得白占土地。’“园丁请求说，‘主人，再留它一年吧！让我在它四周松土、施肥，明年如果结了果子就留它，否则再砍掉它。’”

他大喊的时候，声如狮吼，之后有七声雷鸣。

寄居在巴比伦的人说，‘我们试过了，却没有治好。我们离开她，各自返回故乡吧！因为她罪恶滔天，必受审判。

“离开巴比伦，各自逃命吧！不要让她的罪恶连累你们，以致你们灭亡，这是耶和华报应她的时候，耶和华要惩罚她。

他用强有力的声音喊着说：“巴比伦大城倒塌了！倒塌了！她成了鬼魔的住处、各样污鬼的监狱和一切可憎的不洁鸟兽的牢笼！

但他变得心高气傲、刚愎自用、狂妄自大，因而被革除王位、剥去尊荣。
