Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold,

Your Majesty has commanded everyone to fall down and worship the gold statue. You told them to do it when they heard the horns, flutes, zithers, lyres, harps, pipes and other musical instruments.

You, O king, have made a decree, that every man who hears the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image.

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s interdict: Hast thou not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition unto any god or man within thirty days, save unto thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Then were the king’s scribes called in the first month, on the thirteenth day thereof; and there was written according to all that Haman commanded unto the king’s satraps, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and it was sealed with the king’s ring.And letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.A copy of the writing, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published unto all the peoples, that they should be ready against that day.

And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

And he causeth all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bond, that there be given them a mark on their right hand, or upon their forehead;and that no man should be able to buy or to sell, save he that hath the mark, even the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.Raise a song, and bring hither the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the psaltery.Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast- day.

Moreover David and the captains of the host set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of them that did the work according to their service was:of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.Of Jeduthun; the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Jehovah.Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti- ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of Jehovah, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

Praise him with trumpet sound: Praise him with psaltery and harp.Praise him with timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and pipe.Praise him with loud cymbals: Praise him with high sounding cymbals.Let everything that hath breath praise Jehovah. Praise ye Jehovah.

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write perverseness;

and he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the birth- stool; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him; but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed- edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with psalteries and harps.

that sing idle songs to the sound of the viol; that invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;

It is a good thing to give thanks unto Jehovah, And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High;To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night,With an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery; With a solemn sound upon the harp.

And he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets.

Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.

And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.

And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome; but the noise of them that sing do I hear.And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with timbrel and harp.For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.
