Moreover, at Daniel’s request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.

The king also did what Daniel asked him to. He appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to help Daniel govern Babylon and the towns around it. Daniel himself remained at the royal court.

Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king’s court.

後、復集處女入宮、末底改坐於御門、

惡惡好善、在公庭秉公義以判斷、庶幾主萬有之天主、矜憫約瑟之遺民、

末底改坐於御門時、有守門者、王之二宦官辟探與提列怨亞哈隨魯王、謀欲弒之、

宦官長為之改名、稱但以理曰伯提沙撒、稱哈拿尼亞曰沙得拉、稱米沙利曰米煞、稱亞薩利亞曰亞伯尼歌、

巴比倫王之侯伯、尼甲沙利薛、三甲尼波、宦官長撒西金、博士長尼甲沙利薛、及巴比倫王其餘一切侯伯咸至、坐於中門、

御門行走行走或作待命下同之王臣、跪拜哈曼、因王有命、惟末底改不跪不拜、

但以理歸寓所、以斯事告同儕、哈拿尼亞、米沙利、亞薩利亞、

此四少者、天主賜之以智慧明哲、通達各書各術、但以理又備知諸默示、諸夢兆、

今有猶大人、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、王所使治理巴比倫州事務者、不遵王命、不事王之神、不拜王所立之金像、當時尼布甲尼撒王震怒甚烈、命曳沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌至、遂曳三人至王前、尼布甲尼撒問之曰、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、爾曹不事我之神、不拜我所立之金像、故意乎、今爾曹再聽角、笛、琵琶、琴瑟、簫、笙、及他類樂器之音、若俯伏崇拜我所作之像猶可、若不崇拜、即時投於炎烈之火窰中、視有何神、能救爾曹脫於我手、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、對王曰、尼布甲尼撒歟、王此言我儕不必答之、或作沙得拉米煞亞伯尼歌對尼布甲尼撒王曰論及斯事我儕不必答王有我所事之天主、能救我於炎烈之火窰、脫我於王手、即不然、王亦當知我儕不事王之神、不拜王所立之金像、尼布甲尼撒聞此、忿怒盈懷、向沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、面容變色、命人爇窰、較常烈加七倍、命軍中壯士、束縛沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、投於炎烈之火窰中、三人被縛、衣袴、內袍、外衣、與別衣、投於炎烈之火窰中、或作此三人戴冠衣袴內袍外衣被縛投於炎烈之火窰中緣王命甚急、又緣火窰倍烈、擲沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌之人、反為火炎所燬、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌三人被縛、墮於火窰中、時尼布甲尼撒王驚駭驟起、謂諸議士曰、我儕縛而投於火者、非三人乎、對王曰、王歟、是三人、王曰、今我見四人游行於火中、不縛不傷、其一貌若神子、尼布甲尼撒遂近窰門、曰、沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、至上天主之僕可出、於是沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、俱從火出、諸方伯、大員、牧伯與王之議士咸集、觀斯三人、火未傷其身、首髮不焦、衣不變色、火燎之臭、亦未之有、尼布甲尼撒遂曰、當頌美沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌之天主、因遣其使者救賴之之僕、彼能舍身、不遵王命、在其天主外、不拜他神、或作尼布甲尼撒曰沙得拉米煞亞伯尼歌舍身不遵王命在彼之天主以外不拜他神彼之天主當讚美因遣使者救賴之之僕我今頒詔命、諸民、諸國、諸族、凡以言褻瀆沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌之天主、必剖其身、使其宅第變為糞場、蓋無他神、能救人若此、於是王舉沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌、居顯爵於巴比倫州、
