Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men.

但如果你们讲明这梦和梦的释义，你们就必从我得到礼物、赏赐和极大的尊荣；因此你们要把这梦和梦的释义讲明给我！”

在你的国中有一个人，他里面有圣洁之神的灵；你先王年间就发现这人里面有光明、有悟性、有智慧如同神的智慧；你先王尼布甲尼撒亲自任命他为术士、占卜者、迦勒底人和算命者的领袖。你先王这样做，

“术士的领袖伯提沙撒啊，我知道你里面有圣洁之神的灵，任何奥秘都难不倒你！你就讲说我所看到的梦中异象和梦的释义吧！

而我听说过你能讲解释义，解答难题。现在如果你能读出这文字，并把它的释义显明给我，你就必身穿紫袍，项戴金链，在国中掌权，位居第三。”

于是法老对约瑟说：“既然神把这一切都向你显明了，就没有像你这样有悟性有智慧的人了。你要管理我的家；我所有的子民都要顺从你的话；只有在宝座上的我比你大。”法老又对约瑟说：“你看，我已经委派你管理埃及全地。”然后法老从自己手上取下印戒，戴在约瑟手上，给他穿上细麻衣，把金链戴在他的脖子上；又让约瑟乘自己的副车，喝道的在约瑟前面向人呼喊：“跪下！”这样，法老委派他管理埃及全地。

伯沙撒下令，人就给但以理穿上紫袍，把金链戴在他的颈项上，并宣布他是国中位居第三的掌权者。

在玛云有一个人，他的产业在迦密。那人非常富有，有绵羊三千只，山羊一千只，那时他正在迦密剪羊毛。

随后，王使沙德拉克、米沙克、亚伯尼哥在巴比伦省高升。

以色列人中有人说：“你们看见上来的这人吗？他上来是为了羞辱以色列的。有谁能击杀这人，王必赏赐他极大的财富，并且会把女儿赐给他，还会使他的父家在以色列免除赋税。”

有几个你所指派管理巴比伦省事务的犹太人，就是沙德拉克、米沙克、亚伯尼哥；王啊，这些人却不理会你的命令，既不事奉你的神，也不向你所立的金像膜拜！”

尼布甲尼撒王造了一座金像，高六十肘，宽六肘；他把这像立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原上。

大流士认为最好任命一百二十个行政官来管理国家，分治全国，又在他们之上任命三位总督察，但以理是其中之一；这些行政官要向他们三位负责交代，好使王不受损失。
