God also said to Moses,“ Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors— the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob— has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.

He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon.

“ While Your Majesty was sleeping, you dreamed about coming events. He who reveals secrets has shown you what is going to happen.And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart.

Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.

God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.

He said,“ Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power.He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.

Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High.

In that day you will sing:“ I will praise you, O Lord! You were angry with me, but not anymore. Now you comfort me.

At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said,“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

One wise person is stronger than ten leading citizens of a town!

The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger.

At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed,“ O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command.

“ O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!

So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said,“ Father, thank you for hearing me.

But one of the twenty four elders said to me,“ Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

He prayed,“ O Lord, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!

“ Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked.

This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John,

The wise conquer the city of the strong and level the fortress in which they trust.

Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly:“ O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever!

Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine.

Then Jacob prayed,“ O God of my grandfather Abraham, and God of my father, Isaac— O Lord, you told me,‘ Return to your own land and to your relatives.’ And you promised me,‘ I will treat you kindly.’I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!O Lord, please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to attack me, along with my wives and children.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

Better to have wisdom than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much that is good.

I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us.

So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.
