But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying,“ You are my God!”My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly.

He brings the mighty to ruin without asking anyone, and he sets up others in their place.He knows what they do, and in the night he overturns and destroys them.He strikes them down because they are wicked, doing it openly for all to see.For they turned away from following him. They have no respect for any of his ways.They cause the poor to cry out, catching God’s attention. He hears the cries of the needy.But if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation.

God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.

And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted!Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.So God replied,“ Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies—I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have!

The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up.He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.

People from every nation came to consult him and to hear the wisdom God had given him.

When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.

Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees.Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments.

His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble.

These accounts include the mighty deeds of his reign and everything that happened to him and to Israel and to all the surrounding kingdoms.

And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.

For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.

He immediately consulted with his wise advisers, who knew all the Persian laws and customs, for he always asked their advice.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak.A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
