So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,

So the king sent for those who claimed to get knowledge by using magic. He also sent for those who practiced evil magic and those who studied the heavens. He wanted them to tell him what he had dreamed. They came in and stood in front of the king.

Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.

王考問他們一切智慧和聰明的事，發現他們比全國所有的術士和巫師勝過十倍。

因此我降旨召巴比倫的智慧人全都到我面前，要他們將夢的解釋告訴我。

到了早晨，法老心裏不安，就派人把埃及所有的術士和智慧人都召來。法老把所做的夢告訴他們，但是沒有人能為法老解夢。

法老也召了智慧人和行邪術的人來，這些埃及術士也用邪術照樣做。

大聲吩咐將巫師、迦勒底人和觀兆的領進來。王對巴比倫的智慧人說：「誰能讀這文字，並且向我講解它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，項帶金鏈，在我國中位列第三。」

迦勒底人回答王說：「世上沒有人能解釋王的事情；從來沒有君王、大臣、掌權者向術士、巫師，或迦勒底人問過這樣的事。

儘管使用從幼年就施行的魔符和眾多的邪術吧！或許有些幫助，或許可以致勝。你籌劃太多，以致疲倦。讓那些觀天象，看星宿，在初一說預言的都起來，救你脫離所要臨到你的事！

你中間不可有人使兒女經火，也不可有占卜的、觀星象的、行法術的、行邪術的、施符咒的、招魂的、行巫術的和求問死人的。凡做這些事的都是耶和華所憎惡的；因這可憎惡的事，耶和華－你的神把他們從你面前趕出去。

有人對你們說：「當求問招魂的與行巫術的，他們唧唧喳喳，念念有詞。」然而，百姓不當求問自己的神嗎？豈可為活人求問死人呢？

埃及人的心神在裏面耗盡，我要破壞他們的計謀。他們必求問偶像和念咒的，求問招魂的與行巫術的人。
