So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,

So the king sent for those who claimed to get knowledge by using magic. He also sent for those who practiced evil magic and those who studied the heavens. He wanted them to tell him what he had dreamed. They came in and stood in front of the king.

王考问他们一切智慧和聪明的事，就发现他们比全国所有的术士和用法术的更胜十倍。

我就下令把巴比伦所有的智慧人，都带到我面前来，要他们把梦的意思向我说明。

到了早晨，法老心里烦乱，就派人去把埃及所有的术士和智慧人都召了来；法老把自己的梦告诉他们，但是没有人能替法老解梦。

于是，法老也把智慧人和行法术的人召了来；他们本是埃及的术士，也用他们的巫术照样行了。

王大声呼叫，吩咐人把那些用法术的和迦勒底人，以及占星家都领进来；王对巴比伦的智慧人说：“谁能读这文字，又能向我解释它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，颈戴金链，在国中掌权，位列第三。”

迦勒底人在王面前回答说：“世上没有人能把王所问的事说出来，因为从来没有一个伟大和有权势的君王向术士、用法术的和迦勒底人询问过这样的事。

继续使用你从幼年时就劳碌施行的符咒和许多的邪术吧！或者你可以得到益处，也许你能叫人战栗。你因你许多的计划而劳累；现在让那些划分天象的，观看星辰的，在月朔时说预言的，都站起来，拯救你脱离要临到你身上的事。

在你中间不可有人把自己的儿女献作火祭（“把自己的儿女献作火祭”直译是“使自己的儿女经过进入火中”），也不可有占卜的、算命的、用法术的、行邪术的、念咒的、问鬼的、行巫术的、过阴的。因为行这些事的，都是耶和华厌恶的；就是因为这些可厌可恶的事的缘故，耶和华你的神才把他们从你的面前赶走。

有人对你们说：“要求问那些交鬼的和行巫术的，就是那些喃喃细语的人。”一族之民不应当求问自己的神吗？他们怎能为活人求问死人呢？

埃及人的意志必消沉，我要破坏他们的计谋；他们必求问偶像、念咒的、交鬼的和行巫术的。
