邑中哲婦呼曰、請聽我言、願約押來前、我欲與言。既近城前、婦曰、爾約押乎。曰、是也。曰、請聽婢言。曰、我聽之矣。婦曰、疇昔人嘗有言、當往亞伯而諮諏、以斷事理。我在以色列族中、和平忠厚、今爾欲殲滅以色列族之大邑、並吞耶和華之選民、誠何故與。約押曰、我不欲滅絕、不欲並吞。請以實情告爾、惟以法蓮山人、庇革哩子示巴、逆王大闢、今以之付我、我即離城而去。婦曰、必斬其首級、擲於城外。婦用巧言勸眾、斬庇革哩子示巴、擲其首級與約押、約押吹角、眾離其城、而歸故幕。約押返耶路撒冷覲王。
