After he has arisen, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted and given to others.

Not long after his rule ends, his kingdom will be broken up. It will be divided up into four parts. His children will not receive it when he dies. And it will not be as strong as his kingdom. It will be pulled up by the roots. And it will be given to others.

耶稣知道他们的心思，就对他们说：“如果一个国家自相纷争，就必定荒凉；一城一家自相纷争，必站立不住。

耶和华对耶利米说：“你要这样对他说：‘耶和华这样说：看哪！我所建立的，我必拆毁；我所栽种的，我必拔除。我必这样对待全地。

神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今天晚上，你的灵魂必被取去，你所预备的要归给谁呢？’

恶人的欢呼并不长久，不敬虔者的快乐，不过是暂时的吗？虽然他的高贵上达于天，他的头直插云霄，他必永远灭亡像自己的粪一般，素来看见他的，都要说：‘他在哪里呢？’

我曾看见强暴的恶人兴旺，像树木在本土茂盛。但他很快就消逝，不再存在了；我寻找他，却找不到。

此后，我继续观看，看见另一只兽像豹，背上有鸟的四个翅膀；这兽有四个头，又有权柄给了它。

抛尸和倒灰的整个山谷，以及从汲沦溪直到东边马门拐角一带所有的墓地，都必归耶和华为圣，永远不再拔出，不再倾覆。”

有人孤单无依，没有儿子，没有兄弟，仍劳碌不休，眼目也不以自己的财富为足。他问：“我劳劳碌碌，刻薄自己不去享受，是为谁呢？”这也是虚空，是劳苦的担子。

他们倚靠财富，自夸多财。但他们没有一个能把他的兄弟赎回，或把他的赎价交给神，（因为他生命的赎价非常昂贵，只好永远放弃，）使他永远活着，不见朽坏。他看见智慧人死去，愚昧人和愚顽人一同灭亡，把他们的财产留给别人。他们心里想，他们的家必永存，他们的住处必留到万代；他们以自己的名，称自己的地方。但是人不能长享富贵；他们就像要灭亡的牲畜一样。

直到我进了神的圣所，才明白他们的结局。你实在把他们安放在滑地，使他们倒下、灭亡。他们忽然间成了多么荒凉，被突然的惊恐完全消灭。人睡醒了怎样看梦，主啊！你睡醒了，也要照样轻看他们（“他们”原文作“他们的影像”）。
