他們看見了以色列的神；在神的腳下有好像藍寶石一樣晶瑩的鋪路，好像天色一般明亮。他不伸手攻擊以色列人中的顯貴；他們看見神，並且又吃又喝。

烏西雅王去世那年，我看見主坐在高高的寶座上，他的衣裳垂下，充滿聖殿。在他上面有撒拉弗侍立，各有六個翅膀；用兩個翅膀遮臉，兩個翅膀遮腳，兩個翅膀飛翔。他們彼此高呼著說：“聖哉！聖哉！聖哉！萬軍之耶和華！他的榮光充滿全地。”因呼叫者的聲音，門檻的根基震撼，殿也充滿了煙雲。那時我說：“我有禍了，我滅亡了！因為我是個嘴唇不潔的人，又住在嘴唇不潔的人民中間，又因為我親眼看見了大君王萬軍之耶和華。”

基甸看出他是耶和華的使者，就說：“哀哉，我主耶和華啊，因為我面對面看見了耶和華的使者。”

他又說：“你不能看我的臉，因為沒有人看見了我還能活著。”

耶穌就說：“那麼大衛被聖靈感動，怎麼會稱他為主呢？他說：‘主對我的主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我把你的仇敵放在你的腳下。’

從來沒有人見過神，只有在父懷裡的獨生子把他彰顯出來。

耶和華的使者沒有再向瑪挪亞和他的妻子顯現，那時瑪挪亞才知道他是耶和華的使者。瑪挪亞對他的妻子說：“我們必定要死，因為我們看見了神。”他的妻子卻對他說：“如果耶和華有意要殺我們，就必不從我們的手裡接納燔祭和素祭，也必不會把這一切事指示我們，更不會在這個時候向我們宣布這些事啊。”

你們還要說：‘你的僕人雅各在我們後面。’”因為他心裡想：“我先送禮物去，藉此與他和解，然後再與他見面，或者他會原諒我﹙“他會原諒我”或譯：“他會接納我”﹚。”

大衛自己被聖靈感動卻說：‘主對我的主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我把你的仇敵放在你的腳下（有些抄本作“等我使你的仇敵作你的腳凳”）。’
