爾既與基督同死、以絕世之小學、胡為從乎世、服於儀文乎、

爾效基督之死、脫此世小學、奚可從世故、尚儀文乎、

若爾與基督同死、脫斯世之賤質、何仍遵儀文、似猶活於世俗中、

爾等既與基督同死、而已灑然脫於世俗之蒙學矣、乃何又鰓鰓遵循人為之禁令、一若尚生於世俗之中耶？

If you died with the Messiah to the elemental forces of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances,

Be careful not to allow anyone to captivate you through an empty, deceitful philosophy that is according to human traditions and the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

So also we, when we were minors, were enslaved under the basic forces of the world.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days–

He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. He has taken it away by nailing it to the cross.

We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries.

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you could be joined to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, to bear fruit to God.For when we were in the flesh, the sinful desires, aroused by the law, were active in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.But now we have been released from the law, because we have died to what controlled us, so that we may serve in the new life of the Spirit and not under the old written code.

For through the law I died to the law so that I may live to God.I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them.

For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards,

Adulterers, do you not know that friendship with the world means hostility toward God? So whoever decides to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy.

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe from the evil one.They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to the world.

But now that you have come to know God( or rather to be known by God), how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless basic forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?You are observing religious days and months and seasons and years.I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.I beg you, brothers and sisters, become like me, because I have become like you. You have done me no wrong!

If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.We know that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.( For someone who has died has been freed from sin.)Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.We know that since Christ has been raised from the dead, he is never going to die again; death no longer has mastery over him.For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.So you too consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
