他們當中有些人溜進別人家裡，虜獲無知的婦女。這些婦女被罪孽壓制，被各種欲望牽引，雖然一直學習，卻始終不能達到到真理的知識當中。

所以怎麼樣呢？以色列人並沒有獲得他們所尋求的，蒙揀選的人卻獲得了，而其餘的人都成了剛硬的，正如經上所記：「神給了他們昏迷的心靈、看不見的眼睛、聽不見的耳朵，直到今天。」大衛也說：「讓他們的筵席成為網羅、陷阱、絆腳石，又成為他們的報應。讓他們的眼睛昏暗不能看。讓他們的腰背永遠彎曲。」

而以色列人追求律法的義，卻沒有達到律法的義。這是為什麼呢？因為他們不是本於信，倒像是本於行為去追求的，所以他們就絆倒在那「絆腳的石頭」上。正如經上所記：「看哪，我在錫安放一塊絆腳的石頭，是使人絆倒的磐石；可是信靠他的人將不至於蒙羞。」

譏諷者尋求智慧卻得不到；有悟性的人輕易得知識。

不與我在一起的，就是在反對我；不與我一起收集的，就是在拆散。

那時候，耶穌說：「父啊，天地的主，我讚美你，因為你把這些事向有智慧的和有學問的人隱藏起來，而向小孩子們顯明出來。是的，父啊！因為這正是你的美意。我父把一切都交給了我。除了父，沒有人認識子；除了子和子所願意啟示的人，也沒有人認識父。

但以理啊！你當隱藏這些話語，封住這書卷，直到末後的時期；必有許多人往來奔走，知識也必增多。」
