They speak mere words, With worthless oaths they make covenants; And judgment sprouts like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.

Offending and denying the Lord, And turning away from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving and uttering lying words from the heart.Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter.

Jezebel his wife said to him,“ Do you now reign over Israel? “ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, and you have now become betrayers and murderers of Him;

Why do You make me see disaster, And make me look at destitution? Yes, devastation and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises.Therefore the Law is ignored, And justice is never upheld. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore justice comes out confused.

Lord, do Your eyes not look for honesty? You have struck them, But they did not weaken; You have consumed them, But they refused to accept discipline. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent.

Can a throne of destruction be allied with You, One which devises mischief by decree?They band themselves together against the life of the righteous And condemn the innocent to death.

The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain the refining goes on, But the wicked are not separated.They call them rejected silver, Because the Lord has rejected them.

As for evil, both hands do it well. The leader asks for a bribe, also the judge, And the great one speaks the capricious desire of his soul; So they plot it together.

Because I know that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron tendon And your forehead bronze,
