He makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the rooms of the south.

It will happen in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.

You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the animals of the forest prowl.

He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.

“ Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loosen the cords of Orion?Can you lead the constellations out in their season? Or can you guide the Bear with her cubs?

Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the Most High.Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. In the morning watch, Yahweh looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said,“ Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh fights for them against the Egyptians!”Yahweh said to Moses,“ Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.

I will bring the blind by a way that they don’t know. I will lead them in paths that they don’t know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.

“ Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover you?

At the voice of your thunder they hurried away.The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to the place which you had assigned to them.You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, that they don’t turn again to cover the earth.

the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”

We grope for the wall like the blind. Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. Among those who are strong, we are like dead men.
