( But there is one who made the constellations Pleiades and Orion; he can turn the darkness into morning and daylight into night. He summons the water of the seas and pours it out on the earth’s surface. The LORD is his name!

He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns midnight into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land— the Lord is his name.

The Lord made the Pleiades and Orion. He turns midnight into sunrise. He makes the day fade into night. He sends for the waters in the clouds. Then he pours them out on the surface of the land. His name is the Lord.

It is the Lord who created the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. He turns darkness into morning and day into night. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The Lord is his name!

he makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the constellations of the southern sky;

In that day,” says the sovereign LORD,“ I will make the sun set at noon, and make the earth dark in the middle of the day.

He builds the upper rooms of his palace in heaven and sets its foundation supports on the earth. He summons the water of the sea and pours it out on the earth’s surface. The LORD is his name.

You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around.

He reveals the deep things of darkness, and brings deep shadows into the light.

Can you tie the bands of the Pleiades, or release the cords of Orion?Can you lead out the constellations in their seasons, or guide the Bear with its cubs?

They sat in utter darkness, bound in painful iron chains,because they had rebelled against God’s commands, and rejected the instructions of the sovereign king.So he used suffering to humble them; they stumbled and no one helped them up.They cried out to the LORD in their distress; he delivered them from their troubles.He brought them out of the utter darkness, and tore off their shackles.

Whether it is for punishment for his land, or whether it is for mercy, he causes it to find its mark.

He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders.

As the waters increased, they lifted the ark and raised it above the earth.The waters completely overwhelmed the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters.The waters completely inundated the earth so that even all the high mountains under the entire sky were covered.The waters rose more than twenty feet above the mountains.

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

The seventh time the servant said,“ Look, a small cloud, the size of the palm of a man’s hand, is rising up from the sea.” Elijah then said,“ Go and tell Ahab,‘ Hitch up the chariots and go down, so that the rain won’t overtake you.’”Meanwhile the sky was covered with dark clouds, the wind blew, and there was a heavy rainstorm. Ahab rode toward Jezreel.

Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, or made the dawn know its place,that it might seize the corners of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it?

In the morning watch the LORD looked down on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and cloud, and he threw the Egyptian army into a panic.He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving, and the Egyptians said,“ Let’s flee from Israel, for the LORD fights for them against Egypt!”The LORD said to Moses,“ Extend your hand toward the sea, so that the waters may flow back on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen!”So Moses extended his hand toward the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state when the sun began to rise. Now the Egyptians were fleeing before it, but the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.The water returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the army of Pharaoh that was coming after the Israelites into the sea– not so much as one of them survived!

I will lead the blind along an unfamiliar way; I will guide them down paths they have never traveled. I will turn the darkness in front of them into light, and level out the rough ground. This is what I will do for them. I will not abandon them.

Can you raise your voice to the clouds so that a flood of water covers you?

The LORD said to Moses,“ Extend your hand toward heaven so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness so thick it can be felt.”So Moses extended his hand toward heaven, and there was absolute darkness throughout the land of Egypt for three days.No one could see another person, and no one could rise from his place for three days. But the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains.Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off–as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down– to the place you appointed for them.You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again.

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light,and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”

We grope along the wall like the blind, we grope like those who cannot see; we stumble at noontime as if it were evening. Though others are strong, we are like dead men.
