Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Being bound in affliction and iron,Because they rebelled against the words of God, And contemned the counsel of the Most High:Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help.Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, And he saved them out of their distresses.He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And brake their bonds in sunder.

Whether it be for correction, or for his land, Or for lovingkindness, that he cause it to come.

To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.

And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians.And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for Jehovah fighteth for them against the Egyptians.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, even all the host of Pharaoh that went in after them into the sea; there remained not so much as one of them.

And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them.

Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover thee?

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;they saw not one another, neither rose any one from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; The waters stood above the mountains.At thy rebuke they fled; At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away( The mountains rose, the valleys sank down) Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; That they turn not again to cover the earth.

The people that sat in darkness Saw a great light, And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, To them did light spring up.

We grope for the wall like the blind; yea, we grope as they that have no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the twilight; among them that are lusty we are as dead men.
