“ Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord.

耶和華又曰、我使爾邑中、糈糧匱乏、齒間絕食、爾尚不歸誠於我、

我已使爾於爾諸邑中、齒淨無食、在爾各居處絕糧、爾猶不歸誠於我、此乃主所言、

“ I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the Lord.

“ I made sure your stomachs were empty in every city. You did not have enough bread in any of your towns. In spite of that, you still have not returned to me,” announces the Lord.

“ I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places, yet you did not return to me,” declares the Lord.

“ I brought hunger to every city and famine to every town. But still you would not return to me,” says the Lord.

I gave you absolutely nothing to eat in all your cities, a shortage of food in all your communities, yet you did not return to me. This is the LORD’s declaration.

“ But I gave you also cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places; yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

“ But surely I gave you no food to eat in any of your cities; you lacked food everywhere you live. Still you did not come back to me.” The LORD is speaking!

“ I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in every town; yet you haven’t returned to me,” says Yahweh.

I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me,’ says the Lord.

O Lord, are not Your eyes on the truth? You have stricken them, But they have not grieved; You have consumed them, But they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to return.

For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, Nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.

When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

“ Now, therefore,” says the Lord,“ Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him— A grain offering and a drink offering For the Lord your God?

Now in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord. This is that King Ahaz.

And Elisha returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. Now the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant,“ Put on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”

And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying,“ Help, my Lord, O king!”And he said,“ If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?”Then the king said to her,“ What is troubling you?” And she answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.”

Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see. But they will see and be ashamed For their envy of people; Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return.I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle.“ Even the stork in the heavens Knows her appointed times; And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow Observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of the Lord.

For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah The stock and the store, The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;

I will return again to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria.

“ Behold, therefore, I stretched out My hand against you, diminished your allotment, and gave you up to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior.

And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”

And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.

So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, But they were not satisfied; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord.“ I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, Your vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord.

But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying,“ Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.”

Therefore say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts,“ and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.”’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.“ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers?“ So they returned and said:‘ Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us, According to our ways and according to our deeds, So He has dealt with us.’”’”

“ You shall carry much seed out to the field but gather little in, for the locust shall consume it.

They did not cry out to Me with their heart When they wailed upon their beds.“ They assemble together for grain and new wine, They rebel against Me;Though I disciplined and strengthened their arms, Yet they devise evil against Me;They return, but not to the Most High; They are like a treacherous bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword For the cursings of their tongue. This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
