And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.

Whenever I saw the homeless without clothes and the needy with nothing to wear,did they not praise me for providing wool clothing to keep them warm?

Then he said,“ When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive.

Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.

During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.

You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.

As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha( which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor.About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.

She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time.

But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek speaking believers complained about the Hebrew speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.

Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing,and you say,“ Good bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

Jesus said,“ You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”

O women of Israel, weep for Saul, for he dressed you in luxurious scarlet clothing, in garments decorated with gold.

If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.

I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’“ Then these righteous ones will reply,‘ Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus:‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.
