有一個生來瘸腿的人天天被人抬到聖殿美門的外面，向進殿的人乞討。

耶穌問孩子的父親：「他這樣子多久了？」孩子的父親回答道：「他從小就這樣，

路司得城裡坐著一個天生雙腳無力、不能走路的瘸子。

有四個人抬著一個癱瘓的人來見祂。但因為人太多，他們無法抬到耶穌跟前，就拆掉屋頂，對準耶穌所坐的地方，將癱子連墊子一起縋下去。耶穌看見他們的信心，就對癱子說：「孩子，你的罪被赦免了！」有幾個律法教師坐在那裡，心裡議論說：「這是什麼話？簡直是褻瀆上帝！除了上帝之外，誰能赦罪呢？」耶穌立刻看透了他們的心思，就說：「你們為什麼這樣心裡議論呢？對癱子說『你的罪得到赦免了』容易呢，還是說『起來，收拾你的墊子走吧』容易呢？但我要讓你們知道人子在世上有赦罪的權柄。」於是祂對癱子說：「我吩咐你起來收拾你的墊子回家去吧。」

在這次神蹟中蒙上帝醫治的那個人已經四十多歲了。
