But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

有生於居比路之若瑟者、理未人也。宗徒稱之為巴拿巴、譯言「安慰之子、」

祈主一視彼眾之威脅、使爾僕以大無畏精神、宣揚爾道；

眾見伯鐸祿若望侃侃而談、且識其為不學小民、素樸之人、皆不勝驚訝、意必曾親炙耶穌者、

閱三載、乃上耶路撒冷、謁基法、相處旬有五日。其他宗徒、自主之表弟雅各伯而外悉未之見。

彼又往笪而西探訪掃羅；

因此同心合意推選同人、遣之與吾所敬愛之巴拿巴、葆樂、連袂訪爾。二君碧血丹忱、為吾主耶穌基督之名、而罔顧其生者也。

既就道、將抵大馬士革、倏見天光環照、其身仆地、聞聲曰：『掃羅、掃羅、迫我何甚！』曰：『主、爾何人？』主曰：『受迫耶穌。爾且起、入城、當示爾所當為。』

亞拿尼亞遂往、入其室、手按之曰：『兄弟掃羅、途中顯爾前者、主耶穌也，主遣吾至、使爾復明而受聖神。』

耶路撒冷教會聞此佳訊、即遣巴拿巴前往安提阿；

於各會堂傳揚耶穌為上主之子；聞者異曰『耶路撒冷殘害呼籲斯名者、非斯人乎？此來非欲網弋若輩、以解司祭長乎？』然掃羅心志益堅、神力彌增、辯折大馬士革之猶太人、而證耶穌即為基督。

葆樂、巴拿巴力與之辯。眾乃推定葆樂巴拿巴及其他同道數人、就耶路撒冷之宗徒長老決之；

巴拿巴與掃羅所務既畢、返自耶路撒冷、且攜別字馬爾谷之若望同行。

葆樂、巴拿巴仍留安提阿、偕諸同道宣揚福音、闡述主道。越日、葆樂語巴拿巴曰：『茲當復返昔傳主道諸邑、探視同人、以識近狀。』巴拿巴欲攜馬爾谷若翰；葆樂以其曩昔在旁非利亞不予合作、擅自別去、堅執不可。二人意見既左、遂各自分道。巴拿巴與馬爾谷乘舟赴居比路；

方其禮主齋戒之際、聖神謂之曰：『為我甄別巴拿巴及掃羅、以赴我所命之任務。』

亦為予祈求辯才無礙、俾能以大無畏精神、闡發福音之蘊奧。蓋我已為福音之故而成為被鍊加鎖之星使。果能不為威武所屈、侃侃而談、庶幾不辱使命、是所至願也。

其餘猶太人、相率效尤、即巴拿巴亦被虛偽之風所靡。

彼等既見予所受聖寵之不虛、於是號稱教會柱石之雅各伯基法及若望、相率與予及巴拿巴殷勤握手、以表心契；我往外邦、而彼等則傳道於受割禮者。

抑吾與巴拿巴必須躬自操作、自食其力耶？

最後乃見於生不及時之予。
