But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

有一个出生在塞浦路斯的利未人约瑟，使徒们称他为巴拿巴——“巴拿巴”翻译出来就是“安慰之子”；

主啊，现在求你鉴察他们的威吓，使你的奴仆们能满有胆量地传讲你的话语。

他们看见彼得和约翰的胆量，又了解他们是没有学问的普通人，就感到惊奇，并且了解他们是曾经与耶稣在一起的；

三年以后，我才上耶路撒冷去见矶法，在他那里住了十五天。至于其他的使徒，除了主的弟弟雅各，我都没有见过。

后来巴拿巴到塔尔苏去找扫罗，

我们已达成了一致，认为应该拣选几个人，派他们与我们亲爱的巴拿巴和保罗一起到你们那里去。这两个人都为我们主耶稣基督的名，已经把自己的生命置之度外。

当扫罗赶路，快到大马士革的时候，忽然有光从天上下来，四面照射他。他仆倒在地上，听见有声音对他说：“扫罗，扫罗！你为什么逼迫我？”他问：“主啊，你到底是谁？”主说：“我就是你所逼迫的耶稣。你起来，进城去！有人会告诉你应该做什么。”

阿纳尼亚就去了。他进了那家，按手在扫罗身上，说：“扫罗弟兄，在你来的路上向你显现的主耶稣差派我来，使你重见光明，并且被圣灵充满。”

这消息传到在耶路撒冷的教会，他们就派巴拿巴到安提阿去。

就立刻在各会堂里传讲耶稣，说这一位就是神的儿子。所有听见的人都十分惊讶，说：“这不就是那个在耶路撒冷残害了那些求告这名的人吗？而且他来到这里，不就是为要捆绑他们，带到祭司长们那里吗？”扫罗反而更加得以刚强，证明这一位就是基督，使住在大马士革的犹太人很狼狈。

保罗、巴拿巴与他们发生了不小的争执和辩论，他们就指定保罗、巴拿巴和其中的另一些人为这争议的问题，上耶路撒冷到使徒们和长老们那里去。

巴拿巴和扫罗完成了那服事的工作，就带着那称为马可的约翰，从耶路撒冷回去了。

保罗和巴拿巴也住在安提阿，与其他许多人一起教导、传扬主的福音。过了几天，保罗对巴拿巴说：“来，让我们回到我们传过主福音的每一个城，探望弟兄们，看看他们的情况怎么样。”巴拿巴一直想要带那称为马可的约翰一起去。但是保罗觉得不该带他一起去，因为他曾在潘菲利亚省离开他们，没有陪他们一起去工作。两个人起了激烈的争执，以致彼此分手。巴拿巴带着马可，坐船到塞浦路斯岛去；

他们在服事主、禁食的时候，圣灵说：“来，你们把巴拿巴和扫罗为我分别出来，去做我所召唤他们做的工作！”

也为我祈求，好使我在开口的时候被赐予话语，能坦然无惧地让人明白福音的奥秘——为此，我成了带锁链的特使。请为我祈求，使我能照着应该说的，放胆传道。

其余的犹太人也跟着他装假，以致连巴拿巴也被他们的伪善引入歧途。

公认是柱石的雅各、矶法和约翰，既然明白了神所赐给我的恩典，就向巴拿巴和我伸出右手行契合之礼，要我们往外邦人那里去，而他们往受割礼的人那里去；

难道只有我和巴拿巴没有不做工的权利吗？

最后也显现给我——这个像是早产婴儿一样的人。
