「你們要小心謹慎，因為人們要把你們送上法庭，也要在會堂裡鞭打你們。你們要因我的緣故被帶到官長和君王面前，在他們和外族人面前為我做見證。當你們被押送公堂時，不用顧慮如何應對，或說什麼話，那時必會賜給你們當說的話。

他吃過東西之後，體力也恢復了。他和大馬士革的門徒住了幾天之後，

也沒有上耶路撒冷去見那些比我先作使徒的人，而是立刻去了阿拉伯，然後回到大馬士革。過了三年，我才到耶路撒冷去拜會彼得，和他一起住了十五天。我也見了主耶穌的弟弟雅各，此外沒有見過其他使徒。

「後來，我回到耶路撒冷，在聖殿裡禱告的時候，進入異象，看見主對我說，『趕快離開耶路撒冷，因為這裡的人不會接受你為我做的見證。』我說，『主啊！他們都知道我從前搜遍各會堂，逮捕、毒打信你的人。當你的見證人司提凡為你流血殉道時，我自己也站在旁邊贊同殺他的人，還替他們保管衣服。』

那時，許多人會放棄信仰，互相出賣，彼此憎恨。
