西拉和提摩太從馬其頓下來的時候，保羅正為這道所催迫，專向猶太人鄭重地證明上帝所膏立者就是耶穌。

疲乏的、他賜能力；無氣力的、他給增加力量。

但上帝卻揀選了世界上愚拙的，要使有智慧的慚愧；上帝又揀選了世界上軟弱的，要使強壯的慚愧；

他們便和保羅定了一個日子，就有許多人到寓所來、受他招待。保羅從早到晚對他們講解，透徹證明上帝之國，不但引了摩西的律法書、也引了神言人的書、將耶穌的事勸導他們相信。

亞波羅有意思要過去到亞該亞，弟兄們就慫恿着，寫信叫門徒接待他。他既到了，就多多幫助藉着恩惠而信的人；在公眾面前極有力地駁倒猶太人，引經指明上帝所膏立的就是耶穌。

因為是我要賜給你們口才和智慧，就是一切敵對你們的人所不能反對或辯駁的。

當時有幾個人、屬於那叫作「釋放人」會堂的、包括古利奈和亞力山太、以及屬於基利家人和亞西亞人會堂的、起來，跟司提反辯論。他們卻沒有力量抵擋司提反講話的智慧和靈力。

然而義人總要執守他所行的路；手潔淨的人必越發有力量。

耶穌又對他們說：『我這些話、我從前還和你們同在時所對你們講的話、就是：凡摩西《律法書》和《神言人的書》跟《詩篇》上所記的關於我的話、都必須得應驗。』於是耶穌敞開他們的心竅，使他們能曉悟經典。

靠着那給我能力的、我總有力量應付萬事。

他們行走、力上加力，各人朝見上帝於錫安。

開講陳明上帝所膏立者必須受害，從死人中復起。又說：『我向你們傳揚的這位耶穌，就是上帝所膏立者。』

但他的弓仍然堅硬；他的手臂強健敏捷，這是因着雅各之大能者的手；（以色列的牧者、以色列的石頭是從那裏而出的，）

他對我說：『我的恩是夠你用的；因為能力是在軟弱上才顯得完全的。』所以我頂喜歡、寧可拿種種軟弱來誇口，好讓基督的能力來住在我身上。故此我為基督的緣故、就以種種的軟弱、凌辱、艱難、逼迫和困迫、為可喜悅；因為我甚麼時候軟弱，我甚麼時候就有能力而剛強。
