後來阿波羅想到亞該亞省去，弟兄們就鼓勵他，寫信請門徒們歡迎他。他到了以後，對那些蒙恩的信徒大有幫助，因為他當眾強有力地駁倒猶太人，用經文證明耶穌是基督。

因為我將賜給你們口才和智慧，是所有反對你們的人都不能抵擋、不能駁倒的。

可是一些來自稱為「自由人」會堂的人，包括一些古利奈人、亞歷山大人，還有來自奇里乞亞省和亞細亞省的人，起來與司提反辯論，但司提反以智慧和聖靈說話，他們就抵擋不住。

耶穌對他們說：「這就是我還與你們在一起的時候，對你們說過的話：摩西的律法、先知書和詩篇上所記的有關我的一切事，都必須應驗。」於是耶穌開啟他們的理性，使他們能領悟經上的話，

藉著使我剛強的那一位，我一切都能。

他們行走，力上加力，各人到錫安朝見神。

講解並說明基督必須受難，然後從死人中復活，並且說：「我傳給你們的這位耶穌，就是基督。」

但他的弓依然堅硬，他的手臂敏捷，這是出於雅各的大能者之手，出於以色列的牧者、以色列的磐石，

但他對我說：「我的恩典是夠你用的，因為我的大能在軟弱中得以完全。」因此，我反而極其樂意地誇耀我的那些軟弱，好讓基督的能力遮蓋在我身上。所以，為了基督的緣故，我在那些軟弱中、凌辱中、艱難中、在逼迫和困苦中，都感到喜悅；因為我什麼時候軟弱，什麼時候就剛強了。
