西拉和提摩太从马其顿下来的时候，保罗就专心传扬主的道，向犹太人极力证明耶稣是基督。

疲乏的，他赐气力，无力的，他加力量。

但是神却拣选了世上愚笨的，使那些有智慧的羞愧。他也拣选了世上软弱的，使那些刚强的羞愧。

他们和保罗约好了一个日子，到那日有很多人到他的住所来见他。他从早到晚向他们讲解，为神的国竭力作见证，引用摩西的律法和先知的话劝他们信耶稣。

亚波罗有意要到亚该亚去，弟兄们就鼓励他，又写信请门徒接待他。他到了那里，对那些蒙恩信主的人帮助很多，因为他当众有力地驳倒犹太人，引用圣经证明耶稣是基督。

因为我必赐给你们口才、智慧，是你们所有的敌人不能抵抗，也不能驳倒的。

当时有几个称为“自由人”会堂的人，就是从古利奈和亚历山太来的人，另外还有基利家人和亚西亚人，他们出面与司提反辩论，但司提反靠着圣灵和智慧说话，他们就抵挡不住。

义人必坚守自己的道路，手洁的人要力上加力。

主对他们说：“这就是我从前与你们同在的时候，对你们说过的话：摩西的律法、先知书和诗篇上所记关于我的一切事，都必定应验。”于是他开他们的心窍，使他们明白圣经；

我靠着那加给我能力的，凡事都能作。

他们行走，力上加力，直到各人在锡安朝见神。

讲解证明基督必须受害，从死人中复活，说：“我所传给你们的这位耶稣，就是基督。”

但他的弓依然坚硬，他的手臂仍旧敏捷，这是出于雅各的大能者之手；出于以色列的牧者，以色列的磐石。

他却对我说：“我的恩典是够你用的，因为我的能力在人的软弱上显得完全。”所以，我更喜欢夸自己的软弱，好让基督的能力临到我的身上。因此，我为基督的缘故，就以软弱、凌辱、艰难、迫害、困苦为喜乐，因为我什么时候软弱，什么时候就刚强了。
